I want to give this guy a chance(especially since hes on a cheap contract), mightve jumped the gun too much as far as possibly unloading him to be honest. But he has to STEP THE EFF UP, if your stroke isnt going in you better be trying to attack the lane and play some super scrappy D. IMO, hasnt done neither. I truly think he must practice really well. Is anyone a GSW expert or started with any diagnosing of their film? Id like to think we didnt wanna show any cards so a lot of our sets were vanilla.
From what I see in summer league, you definitely don't want AB to drive to the basket. He can't get there, he would stop in the paint looking unnerve trying to pass. He tries on defense though. The biggest annoyance is his inability to hit open shots. Good thing we have Deng and Ingram.
Agreed from what I saw as well. Doesn't have a crazy quick twitch, sure he tries on D but not hard enough for my taste, especially when you're missing too many shots. You know the guy who just had a turnover,so he gives it his all to makeup for it? That's what I wanna see out of him, i think the SF role is done for him, only way he makes the team is as a 3/Jumper&D SG(good size/length for a SG) IMO.
He was a knockdown shooter in college. It has to be mental at this point. His defense was pretty good in summer league. If he can just knock down the countless number of open threes he gets, he'd be a solid 3 & D role player.
I can't stand him and am looking forward to the day he's no longer here. Sorry. Not a fan of crazy eyes. Right now I feel like his guaranteed contract is a wasted roster space.
So true, he has lost the privilege to go past a donkey without supervision because of his terrible shooting.
AB looks taller than Magic in the pic. Either he is wearing high heels or he is Duranting his actual height.
Anthony Brown seems to be closer to the camera and Magic is leaning, but I'd say they're roughly the same height. Magic was 6'9" though and could be shrinking a little...
It's not looking good in his favor, though. Goodness. This year, I think he plays spot minutes at the 2 and 3.
I see Walton using him in the same way probably when he needs him to cool off an opponent who's having a hot hand. I liked the defensive intensity Brown showed in the Summer League. The young man's head and heart is in the right place. Can't say the same about his offense...
I actually don't think he'll play a lot. The 2 and 3 spots are both pretty loaded. Maybe foul trouble, injuries or garbage time.
Yep. He's a plus defender at the NBA level. Good size and length to play the 2 and 3; he's got to be a high percentage shooter, though.
Agree... I'm sure the coaching staff will work on Brown just to keep his confidence that he can stick. There really aren't too many defensive specialists any more. Tony Allen...Roberson...Sefolosha come to mind to name a few. I am not aware if we have a shooting coach on board that spend time to correct Brown's mechanics. If Randle and Russell are consulting one, they should send him his way.
