it really is. goes down real smooth too. im not sure how easy it is to get outside of CA, but I would highly recommend it! belching beaver is the brewery that makes it
this beer always catches my eye. then I see it's only 5.4% abv and I snob out like a real douche. I'm gonna pick it up next time.

^^ Sorry, bud. Not into vodka. To me vodka just tastes like vodka, and I try to find the smoothest and less rubbing alcoholy tasting ones. I don't drink it neat, so I just go with the cheapest that still tastes ok...which is easily Smirnoff.
The one style of beer that has always turned me off has been the sours. They are becoming extremely popular now in the craft beer world, and many are quite pricey. I asked the local shop-keep for a recommendation and this is where he pointed me. $9.99/12oz bottle was a fair price considering most are in the $14-20 range. It didn't blow me away like a nice smooth and complex barrel aged stout or an untra rare belgian quad, but it was really tasty. Pick up a sour next time you have a chance, beer-brothers! I started with this evil little devil first though. 16.9%abv! It was soooo smooth and rich, hiding the alcohol very well until you exhale at the very end of your drink, there it is on the back of your palate. So much chocolate and caramel. Delicious!
^^ I don't get it. you're not supposed to age ipas, as the hops fade over time. what's the deal? just a gimmick?
From what I understand, its a special yeast they put in it. Not sure if I buy the brewing logic, but I'm willing to give Stone the benefit of the doubt. I bought a couple bottles. They aren't that expensive. I think they were 8.99 each. Stone Enjoy BY is still my favorite beer.
I've had Elder a few times. Never been lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time for Younger.
You're probably never going to luck out on getting ahold of Younger. It's a thing you have to plan for. You have to google when and where it'll be released, show up there many hours earlier and stand in line for a wrist band. It's good, but not worth that hassle, other than maybe just as a novelty bucket-list type of thing.
Enjoy After is a brett IPA, which has a yeast strain called brettanomyces introduced to it. Typically, brett imparts a barnyard funkiness with slight sourness as well. Usually, when you age beers with brett, they tend to get more funky and sour the older it gets. I haven't had Enjoy After, but I imagine it's pretty hoppy and slightly funky/sour went it's fresh, and will progressively get more funky and less hoppy with age.
As I continue my journey into the sour dimension, I finally give this lil devil a try, after so many looks of curiosity on the beer-store shelf. Have you ever poured malt vinegar into your belgian quad? would you ever want to? If that sounds just tasty, pick this up cause that's exactly how i'd describe it. In all seriousness, it's a unique sour ale. I enjoyed it, but most won't.
I have probably talked about it in this thread, Punk. I think it's great. Very different from anything else I've ever had - and your description sounds about right. Velvety, I'd add.
