I wonder if there’s someone Walter has already hired, or consults with, who could tell JJ to “play the kids who may have a future with us!” Or, does it always default to ”We are the Lakers, and we have to win as many games as possible, even though we have zero chance of even making the WCFs!” Maybe he can have Linda or Kurt relay the message?
I mean I get that you don’t tank, of course not, but to me we don’t have incentive to try to win a few more games with guys that won’t be here over seeing what we’ve got in our youth. If Adou can show some stuff that matters, because cheap contributors will be important. Same for Bufkin, see what you have there, and maybe you don’t have to go looking for a backup guard in free agency. But yeah in regard to winning every game we can, we own our pick this year, so yeah never tank, but if we’re 7-10th place and get a better pick because we spent more time giving young guys a shot, I don’t see it as a loss.
