Hmmmm, now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever seen you and Neo online at the same time. I wonder...

I know for a fact that Barns isn't Neo, because I just invited Neo to LB and he's signing up right now. LOL

Sam Harris makes me want to pull my hair out. I can't even stand to watch him or listen to him.

I wish I had more time to look at the Christianity/Islam stuff, but honestly I don't care. I'd love for everyone to have their religion, to practice their religion, to stop passing laws to encourage or incentivize their laws, and to stop hurting people - whether or not it's part of your religion.

Thoughts on the shooting in Paris?

Also, France had strict gun laws, so this also ventures into that debate. My feeling is gun laws don't work. Bad guys will always get them.

Interesting stuff. About 6 months ago Putin said he was going to kick all Muslims out of Russia. I haven't heard if that really happened. Wonder what France and England feel about it.

Nice assembly in Paris today. So many world leaders in attendance. Really sends a message to the world that this is not acceptable.

Any guesses who wasn't present? More importantly, why not?

Long flight? Kenia roots? Lack of care? Oil prices going down?

Do you all think that the world would work better without multiculturalism? Like, one language, one religion, one law, one country? And for those of you that are religious, do you want everyone in the world to believe in the same faith as you?

Forcing people to do pretty much anything is a bad idea.

I'm for free will / free choice. As Sama said, forcing everyone to accept or believe in the same thing is impossible and quite honestly, would make for a pretty boring world.

I never said or wanted to imply anything about force.

I'm with you. Does your religion of love require faith?

As am I. I'm not talking about force. But in terms of your faith which seems very strong, would you prefer it if everyone shared it? Or do you think the world would be better?

Another idea that's been on my mind lately is the philosophical standpoint of DIVINE INTERVENTION. This is completely what Judaism-Christianity-Islam is based off of. A specific covenant with God, God coming down and telling people things, God having a child with a human, so on and so forth - "miracles". What is your perspective on this? For those of you that believe in one of these faiths, how can you justify divine intervention? For those of you that don't, how can you justify that it doesn't happen?

As an unbeliever, I cannot prove that something was not divinely inspired/intervened with. It's just a matter of perspective one takes...natural or supernatural. If there is a naturalistic explanation for something, one could still argue that divine cause was behind it. To me, the natural explanation is good enough. And when there isn't a natural explanation, I say let's try to figure one out because in human history, when something is a mystery to science and people make up supernatural explanations, science always comes along with an answer eventually.

Until this thread refreshed, I had forgot about this. Now, President Obama has had little to say about the terrorist actions in Tennessee and didn't even have the flags at the White House or in Washington DC lowered to half mass. But on that day, he did send out a Tweet about the ending of Ramadan. Priorities, I guess. But when someone says he's a Muslim, people cry racism / blind hate.

NOTE: I do NOT think this Muslim terrorist represents the thoughts or actions of the majority of Muslims. My point is more about the actions of President Obama.
