Talk of Kaepernick on the block too... WTH? Of course, Niner management denies it.

It makes a little more sense though in light of everything that's going on.

    1. Harbaugh leaves and that's Harbaugh's guy.
    2. Willis and Smith retire.
    3. Gore leaves.
    4. New coach.

I mean it just kind of smacks of rebuild, no?

Yeah...kinda like how the Jackson regime was purged. Eerily similar. It would be foolish of them to let Kaep go although it has been pointed out that he regressed somewhat last year. Wasn't his fault...spotty receiver productivity and TE Vernon Davis was MIA. Defense wasn't its dominating self from previous two seasons.

    I don't disagree with that.

It's crazy to think they were a modern day dynasty just a year or two ago and now they're rebuilding... Just crazy.

Pretty rough off-season for the 9ers so far. Only 3 defensive starters remain from their SB team. Losing a coach, two defensive captains, your rb (many could argue it was time for that passing of the torch), and your qb is on the block. it looks like Iupati and Crabtree are about to head elsewhere too.

Crazy part to me is that he is only 30. I don't recall him having a major injury or a history of concussions...

My brother is a 9ers fan. He's hurting right now. That said, I hope Oakland lands Iupati. I bet SF fans don't care about Crabtree.

Most Niner fans (me included) don't care about Crabtree or Iupati. Crabtree has no speed. Iupati is an amazing run blocker, but can't find his shadow in pass protection. Not worth the money someone will throw at him. Gore, I understand, and am happy he gets his final pay day before retirement. Justin Smith - it's time. He's not an every down player anymore and a player of his stature isn't a backup (not even talking money).

But Willis.... oh man, that came out of nowhere. That hurts. IMO, he's a top 5 LB all time and only played 8 years. Gonna miss him. A LOT.

He's had a recurring toe injury for about three years. I don't know how much of that is a factor though.

Underlined sentiment makes me think twice about Lupati but Tice and Musgrave want to establish the run game not abandon it easily like our last OC. Gore is probably an upgrade over McCoy given how he runs and keeps the chains moving...unless he ages overnight.

Yall know anything about Mike Person? Falcons just signed him. 9ers drafted him in 2011, 7th round. He didn't see any time on the field that year, but didn't know if you guys might know something I don't. Doesn't look like much, but I guess Quinn liked what he saw in in 12-13 when he was with the Seahawks.

And now Borland retires. 8 starts / 108 tackles.

    Ugh

It's really alarming all the early retirements that are occurring.

Took a lot for him to decide...walking away from all that money and the fame. Maybe the call of the game will be strong and he will reconsider. As of now, it is a hot button topic in the NFL.

I feel bad for people who have substance abuse issues. But Aldon makes it difficult for me.

    Just throwing his career away.

Good luck in Dallas next year.

Been one of the roughest summers I can remember for the Niners. Sheesh. What a bummer.

All these transgressions and not taking responsibility for any of them... A shame as all that talent and lack of common sense. I don't think he'd be welcome in Dallas. They already have two of them there...
