Saw the headline figure at 185m and thought oh wow, that’s a big discount over 5 years, what’s that like 32m per?

Then I read 4 years… and realised it was the max he could get at 41m.

Then I read the player option in year 4. You know for someone who said it wasn’t about the money and he didn’t want the max he could get. He has basically set himself up to opt out at 31 to go for the full max if he is still playing well. That would be like 75m per year for 4-5 years. Good for him I guess… but we’re really going to struggle to win multiple chips when everyone is just going for theirs.

Windhorst isn’t super reputable. I don’t think this is insider information, this is him putting his opinions as facts.

Now Austin will be playing to prove his is worth the $$ as this will be a talking point if numbers dip. Luka still on the hunt for MVP. The rest of the roster could settle down.

I knew it was going to be a player option for the 4th year. Austin agent going for the cash no Lakers discount.

Lakers paid the Knicks 5 million to move up to 24. Does that 5 million come off our cap space!

If we blow having Luka in the P&G im gonna flip out. We should be thinking championship every f***ing year. No more of this "next year free agency is full of great players" BS. No more "draft steals" and picking up washed up guys from waivers and so on. Pay up Mark and lets f***ing go.

I don’t blame Reaves for getting his though, he was undrafted, this was probably his best shot at a huge contract. The FO is the one that tends to overvalue/overrate some of our own players, that’s where my blame always goes, the players are always going to take the most they can. We definitely will struggle to win titles with Luka and Reaves as the 2 best players on the team though.

Where did you read that? It's usually a smaller number but no it doesn't impact the cap

Sounds a lot to move up one spot in the mid 20s but it shows 1) how much they really wanted Carr and 2) Walter's big pockets coming into play

also might tip hand about trades (not happening), as that pretty much eats up the sweetener pile (there's a max amount you can spend). i guess either that or the extra cash doesn't talk as much in bigger trades.

unless that cash was leftover from this year and it re-sets in july. don't know the rule on that one.

anyway, not my money. if you told me a couple months ago that paying 5m would allow us to switch up and draft carr, i'd have been pleased.

You mean the words you actually posted? You are the one that said the regular season doesn't mean s***. When I called you on it, suddenly the regular season obviously matters. This is why several posters are getting frustrated in the exchanges with you. Whenever it's demonstrated that you made a bad point you shift the goal posts. Either the regular season matters or it doesn't. Both aren't true at the same time. It's not me failing by taking the words too literally. It's you failing by overstating your point to make a point and then changing your story when someone points it out.

You used two words here to describe my point about Reaves regular season and playoff stats. You called them random and oblique.

Random means occurring without definite reason or pattern.
    Oblique means not straightforward.

I presented Reaves' actual primary stats of PPG, APG and RPG for both the regular season and the playoffs. I did so in a clear non-random or oblique way. You then proceeded to completely dismiss them as though those stats do not matter at all, and some other less significant stat of your choosing was the true measure of Reaves value. You only did it because the primary stats don't fit your narrative, and the secondary stat you chose does.

Every GM in the league gives significant weight to PPG, APG, RPG production in their evaluation of players and they would be foolish not to. Does that mean it's their only consideration? Of course not, but I never made that point in spite of your inference.

The real bottomline is Reaves produces at an elite level. Your narrative can't change that, and the narrative of Reddit can't either, which you seem influenced by.

What I tell yall. We taking care of our own. Get my post. I said We gonna see Austin Reaves Lakers agree 4 yr. 194 million dollar contract. So I had 9 million off. But I got it right. He’s back. Nothing to see here. He was going nowhere. Brooklyn was b*******. And now we can get back to buisness.

congrats Austin you deserve it. Now you can play your career in L.A. with Luka and win championships. The cornerstones of our franchise Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic. Now makes so much sense drafting that protection 3-D Cameron Carr on the Wings. And we got Adou Thiero also for protection. And Bronny. We should have our perimeter set now.

Carr is perfect. With penetrators like Austin and Luka it’s perfect to have those guys who can make corner threes. A athletic skilled DFS who can score.

Unless he turns into the second coming of Jerry West, my guess is they play with him for a couple of years, prove it or lose it and then if he is not stepping up in a big way, trade him. He is going to have to earn his keep now. Either he will or he will be marginal and if he is marginal, he will be traded. I am hoping he pans out and he will have my support until he doesn't.
