I’m sorry, but I’m not counting on a big whose career best games playing wise is 58 in 4 seasons. Am I happy we have Kessler? Absolutely. Am I confident he’ll be reliable for even 60 games? Absolutely not until proven otherwise. DA gave us Kessler injury insurance. The fact still remains that we were 18-4 in games he scored a double/double.

Free agent center Andre Drummond has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million to sign with the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN.

Pretty low bar for our backup center in a League that finally decided that Bigs are important again.

Rotation could end up looking something like this:

PG: Luka (36) Sexton (12) Hardy
SG: Reaves (35) Sexton (13) Kncht
SF: Grimes (30) Carr (18) LaRavia
    PF: Kuminga (30) Thiero (10) Mamu (8)
    C: Kessler (30) Mamu (18) Ayton, Kyle

Ayton would have been the odd man out.

that's going to be a rough 3pt shooting team if we don't resign Rui. We may have to end up giving Knecht another chance just because he can knock them down.

Are you kidding me? He put up 12 and 8 on a team with Luka Reaves and LeBron. Were you expecting him to be 22 and 10. He had a phenomenal series against the Rockets and arguably outplayed Sengun. And he flamed out with no effort against Chet and the Thunder giving no effort on rebounds. If you say I was wrong about him changing here and giving maximum effort having that effort. Yes I was wrong. But you do realize our star point guard got hurt and derailed our whole season. Look how he played in the stretch when Luka went nuts and we were the hottest team in the league. But hey we came up short.

We’re paying a guy 30 million a year to average 3 more points and 3 more rebounds than Ayton was getting at 8 million. Put that into perspective. Ayton was cheap. Cheap labor it was a smart basketball move.

yeah I don't think Ayton was that bad, he was just inconsistent, but definitely was great value at 8m per year.

I don't love this move, but I guess we needed those 2nds to dump Vando and get a PF

It would be great to have Ayton coming scoring and rebounding when Kessler went out. We wouldn’t miss anything when Kessler went out. That’s how teams win championships. We did that with Dwight and AD and Mgee.

I mean I criticize Rob as much as anyone, but it’s possible, if not even likely that part of him opting in was us telling him that he would be traded. I’m not sure he’d have accepted a backup role, just doesn’t seem like that kind of guy, mentally fragile. Like he couldn’t come back as a starter, because Luka asked for better, and that request probably didn’t make Ayton feel great either, probably not a thing that could go forward if your star is asking for an A list center instead of you.

isn't he going to be a backup on the Wizards as well, though?
