Nope we are not committing to long term money the way teams move when it comes to the Lakers. We dont want to get stuck in the middle. Not true contender and not bad enough to be in the lotto. Lakers are in good position for a team with little draft capital. sometimes our expectations are to high.

Why wouldn’t the Lakers sign Norman Powell at 2 yrs. 45 million?

i think the fact that reaves and kessler are the lowest possible maxes really gets lost. like, anunoby makes more than that, for example. this isn't three lukas, or worse, like three jokics or SGAs (super duper maxes) or something. our top three combined would make less than jokic/murray/aaron gordon, for example. also comparable also to say, ant/lamelo/gobert. it's not at all an untenable build.

it's like last year in some of these ways, but with a younger core that's not in search of a foundation piece. so much easier to pick up on the margins.

i am. i think i said the whole time i was hoping he'd opt in.

ownership won't let him mozdeng us. hell, the league's whole structure basically won't allow mozdengs anymore. there's basically zero threat of long-term damage occurring here. losing smart/kennard/rui/lebron is definitely not long-term damage. it's short term damage that we chose to eat sooner rather than later.

this is the "lebron wants to play with people who know how to win at the highest level". he can't handle playing with young guys. this is a career-long thing. no patience.

clearly our fans agree with him, but i didn't see a path with lebron and the olds, tbh. obviously neither did rob. obviously most of our forum did, lol.

    1. The reality is once Lakers committed to Austin years ago it was a gradual decline, So Austin may have gotten in the way of a Lebron/Davis duo and you have to get Lebron got tired of that. He saw the team put Austin over him and shell out big $$. This team was toast once JJ challenged Austin to be a star and messed with the pecking order. I know we think just run it back but that team was not going to win with those 3. A good month in regular season does not translate to a title. Non of the flaws were addressed. You dont get that version of Luke is Austin Luka were healthy.

I’m not even kidding I bet next summer is in the back of their minds if they can’t land any RFA’s. We will sign all 1 year guys and we will hear the Jokic excuse.

Lebron looked at Reaves and said I’m better. And I can’t get a contract offer????? The Lakers haven’t offered a contract to Lebron was him telling the media this.

    1. the Lakers have to get the actual player that will make a difference. I’m fine with the Manu and Grimes. But Lakers fans don’t want to hear that now.

id like a Kaminga signing so we can off set some of the scoring. We need his scoring.

I like being younger and athletic just bring in the right guys and right personnel.

I can see LeBron going to the Clippers for a farewell tour.

I also think Kessler wants to be here and they must be making progress on Duren.

if they strikeout Rob shifts everything to Jokic and we have Ayton here for 1 season as a stop gap with Hayes or a Robinson which isn’t a bad thing.

just get me Kaminga on a 2 year deal. 1 year deal with a player option.

and Demar Derozan on a 1 year deal. After the buyout and I can ride with that. I’m fine.

other guys Zaire Williams Quinton Grimes and Manou and we’ll be fine.

Lets say Last season Austin was being paid market value, Ayton and smart were locked in on 4 year deals would that have made us better?

Dont get caught up on the players contract and big name players. Luka went Further with a Kyie, and Rookie than he did with Lebron and Austin in two postseasons. If Austin or Luka get injured like they did last season even with Duren at 36 mil your a play in team at best. They will have to be fully healthy to crack the top 4 or 3. Cant stress this enough the goal is to get younger and more Athletic. The team have consistently struggled with energy and last couple of years. Do not get caught up the effort they made in 1 month thats not who they were as a team. Its unrealistic for Luka to avg 40ppg

Man, are we still mad about Austin's contract signing from a while ago now? And are we mad or happy or conflicted by LeBron leaving.

Everyone needs to pick a lane. If Austin somehow started the break-up of the team, is that good or bad? We were tired of Rich Paul anyways, so like.....it sounds like there was a cost to Austin signing, but it's had good and bad effects on the team.

I choose to see the good effects and leave the rest alone, because time will still tell if it was smart or not.

Ayton gives us the stop gap of Jokic.

Aytons gonna average 18 and 10 this season and exceed his contract you can book it.

I’m not tripping. None of these guys are Shaq. Let’s not kid ourselves. Jokic is Shaq. The Lakers in their back of their mind can’t commit anything long term until Jokic signs his max extension in Denver. And the more he delays and waits they have to think. Walters is a whale watcher. Ohtani Jokic. So I can see that. Hey this a guy who let Seager walk after a World Series MVP. Because they were all about Ohtani. So we’ll see.

I’m not giving the Lakers an out. But if they don’t get Duren or Kessler. You can still build a solid team around Ayton Luka Reaves because you have cheap young guys that guard. Carr Thiero and that’s what you need. Get a Vet that can start Kaminga Derozan and you’ll be fine.

That bench might be rough with Vando and LaRavia. But Knect has got to step up. There are guys on that bench that need to play better.

Grimes will help with Bench play. But he’s not a starter. And Manu will help with the bench. Grimes definitely has the talent to be the next Norman Powell. And with a bigger role here I see 19 points a game easily. Playing next to Reaves and Luka.

I’ll tell you the hard part. Mark Walters was not offering LeBron James a contract period. The Dodgers Friedman have a thing they don’t like giving guys in their 30’s a big contract like after that they feel that is a liability to the franchise.

Lebron at 42 was never going to get paid by Mark Walters. And I Mark wanted to shift from Lebron and just end it there.
