I've yet to understand a single one of the contracts he's received.

    Don't get your hopes up

Rather the Lakers go after Sandro than Rui if Sandro is only within the $5-8 million range. Don't really see Rui's fit on this team anymore. Can't rebound, can't defend, and getting too pricey. Hasn't improved since joining the Lakers. Better value with Sandro and hoping he develops further being on Luka's team.

Carr and Grimes are probably going to take up Kennard's time so I can see how they felt they were too shooting guard heavy at that point. I think keeping Smart should be more of a priority especially since they missed the Keon Ellis signing. Unless Carr becomes a lockdown perimeter defender, they are going to get cooked on the defensive end.

Nawh i think Rui will be Back. Luke and Smart was not worth it. We have to play our young guys. Carr, Thou, Dalton cannnt buried on the bench.

Right. Signing him at a low price makes it worth it to me.

but based on the deals we are seeing our guys sign for I’m now wondering exactly what Rui will agree too.

Pelinka gave up FOUR seconds in the past 2 years for two 3-month rentals. That's just hilariously bad asset management.

Rui is one of Luka’s best bud along with Reaves, I’m hoping Luka fights for him to be retained

Mamu was seeking $10m+ a year. So... don't count on him being a bargain

C'mon man Kennard and Smart were not in our future plans. Smart at 33 might have a good season or might fall off a cliff like DFS did. Nothing to lose your s*** over. Kennard had a run with us that he never had in his whole career, if PHX wants to give 6 to 7 million then god bless him but his defense wasn't great and after game 3 he fell back down to earth hard and actually looked bad after Reaves took his starting spot.

I love Rui but c'mon man to cry over him is crying over mediocrity. He can't play off the bench, can't defend and sometimes goes on a run where he looks like the lottery pick he was but there is a reason no one in the league is gonna pay him 20 to 30 million. If he takes an MLE deal then that should tell you what kind of player other teams view him as, same with Smart and Kennard. Are we really crying over 5 to 6 million dollar players?

When you see that you can get a high end backup/ borderline starting center for a few of those and yet we're giving them out like they're candy or if you're Rob... player options.

We were paying Rui 20 mil to do what he does. 10 mil is a bargain.

Yup, and didn't secure any long-term contracts with players of good value and are underpaid. Everyone is just on a rental and then they're gone. Spend the picks on them and just let them walk away for pennies.

I think part of why this offseason was going to be tough stems from how empty this roster is right now. Couldn't they have secured 2-3 young solid rotational players getting paid $5-6 million per season? Now you have to overpay for everything and have nothing to trade with other than 1st rounders.

Kennard has been consistently the best shooter in the league and is just an overall great ball IQ guy. Not worth 6.5M? We're paying the same to Jake who looked like a deer in headlights out there in the playoffs.

But if you get Grimes for under $10 million, do you need Kennard? I think you gotta keep that in mind as well. Grimes can be a solid bench scorer and you can't really have Kennard there if you sign Grimes.

Future is now. Luka expects to compete for a championship today. We're pissing away his prime. He has no built in loyalty to us. If we can't cobble together some semblance of a competitive roster, he'll bolt when FA hits.

Best case Rob gets fired before next summer and a new front office has one year to do basically what we were told was happening this year. Once again, tall order.

You're crying over 2nd round picks? We can buy 2nd round picks easily. Are we crying over losing mediocre players? These guys, Kennard, Smart are mle rentals at best and somehow we are crying over losing them as well as 2nd round picks. We used one 1st round pick to get Luka and another protected 1st round pick to make the 2023 deal. We still have 2 1st round picks and 3 pick swaps to use as well. I would say our asset management has been good. We adiou from buying a pick. Please don't cry over 2nd round picks there's a ton out there to be bought.

We're not talking about buying them on draft night. We're talking about having a stockpile of them to trade along with your cap space to aquire players like the Stewart to Memphis deal.

If you think we've done well with asset management. I'm out.
