We do need a solid 2nd center

Not only for backup, but in case DA misses any time

    Hmmm....

Evidently JJ disagrees with your assessment of Ayton.

JJ Redick on Deandre Ayton in 2022:

“Ayton’s fantastic.. He’s fantastic at punishing mismatches. In the two-man pick-and-roll with him and [Chris Paul], they’re the No. 1 offensive duo among high volume pick-and-roll players… so he is fantastic.”

The Wiggins asking price is super frustrating because Gabe/Kleber/Knecht for Wiggins just makes a ton of sense for both sides. We obviously need someone like Wiggins that’s more agile on the perimeter.

They get two decent-sized expiring contracts which they (like us) always want to poach free agents or trade demanders, one of which is Gabe who was very successful there in fits into their “culture”. They need a guard, right now they have Herro, Mitchell and a ton of forwards. The latter point is why I don’t know why they’d want Rui, he’d just take minutes from Jovic/Jacquez/Ware whom they should be trying to develop. They also get Dalton. Spo loves movement shooters in his system, hence why they tried to make Duncan Robinson work for years. Dalton was more of a spot-up guy in his rookie year but can definitely turn into more of a movement shooter IMO. I think he could turn into a really damn good offensive player in Miami.

    Just do it Pat!

Wiggins does make sense. I kind of do want to keep Rui though, because he is the heir apparent to Lebron at the 4. Maybe Bron gets traded to New York for Anunoby and Robinson? Either way though, it looks like we are thankfully in good position to get our point-of-attack defender.

We'll miss DFS. That kind of defensive first player who can also shoot the three is pretty vital. But simply put - 4 years at $50 million plus was never going to happen. He's 32 coming off a nagging ankle injury and surgery and he's been declining. Good for him that he got the bag in Houston. I don't begrudge him anything.

Bottom line though, he was a luxury to have and not a position of need. We desperately needed a starting level center and we got one without having to give up any assets and we got him super cheap. Add LaRavia in there and we did extremely well with our MLE money. It was a necessary move and Rob pulled it off.

We still have every one of our assets left to improve the team. I am not sweating the second rounders spent on DFS. Also we have a very good team as is right now, probably 5 seed in the west without doing anything further. I like where we stand.

yes, though it's interesting because with all the health issues, it's hard to know if they really would have played the latter two at all. like, they used them like we'd use koloko/jemison (if someone was hurt).

i'd prioritize a POA defender over another center at this point.

That's a mighty crowded backcourt now.

Smart's game has slipped and I have no interest in him at $20m+ but for the BAE or minimum, that'd be very interesting.

yeah, i knew they were going to move him; i just expected it to be for another developmental project instead of a couple seconds.

if they're washington's seconds, they could be high, though, which is good.

the whitmore fans will get their chance to see if their guy truly is the superstar we missed out on! i'm betting against it, but one could argue he didn't get a fair chance in houston with eason and thompson ahead of him.

Bulls and Kings. Strong chance each of those are essentially late 1sts.

Yes please on Smart, even though he still stinks of Leprechaun farts.
Just dunk him in the Pacific a few times and that should clear right up.

s***..Who predicted that the buyout, would become the new accepted path, to free agency? Get your money, or most of it, and then go wherever you want. Lol..teams might be willing to eat these contracts today, but I bet they start talking about revisiting this new CBA soon. There is always a loop hole to damn near everything.

lol, especially if we benefit big-time from it. like if ayton suddenly became a monster, the next cba would definitely be amended.
