that was what i was trying to work through in my earlier post...i just don't know what the path forward should be. last year was it. they looked great on paper, but couldn't hold it together, and now it's too expensive to just run it back and hope for better health.

i also came to the same conclusion that the real bold play is to move murray, but you absolutely MUST get an on-ball scorer back if you do that. now, i think jokic can make lots of scoring guards look fantastic, so you have some wiggle room. but you have to get someone back. like, who's a capable scoring guard whose stock is low right now? thinking an anfernee simons type plus a bunch of picks? darius garland would have been a candidate, but he moved.

will be an interesting story to watch in july for sure.

The amount of dip***** leading the dip***** after every game is hilarious. It’s a 7 game series. Stop crowing players after one game. f***ing idiots.

They don't have any draft picks to really do much with. But maybe a mutually beneficial trade could work. What about with the Rockets?

Denver trades Murray, Braun & DaRon Holmes (into TPE) for Durant, Reed & Capela. That makes sense for both teams and is a win win in my opinion.

Denver can cut Valancunias with Capela, they get a 2nd option and a ball handler while saving 23m in cap space in the move (13m in the trade and 10m in cutting Val)

    Reed / Brown
    Watson / THJ
    Durant / Cam
    Gordon / Jones
    Jokic / Capela

They'd be slightly above the 1st apron. Meanwhile Rockets are also slightly above the 1st Apron, they get rid of Durant who is a cancer in their locker room while adding Murray to solve their ball handling and Braun for their bench.

    Murray / FVV
    Amen / Braun
    Eason /
    Jabari / DFS
    Sengun / Adams

I think that evens out both teams and they're top 6 in the west.

I actually like the trade for both sides.

Rockets get an elite PNR handler that should help unlock Sengun's game further in the same vein the two man game with Jokic worked. Jabari, Eason & Amen should also benefit from Murray setting them up. Defensively the Amen, Eason, Jabari rotation is really good and will hide Murray more. Having FVV, Braun, DFS (if he gets healthy) & Adams off the bench is a good start. Murray can fill the void that Durant's scoring leaves while making the rest of the guys around him better, a skill Durant doesn't have and the rockets lacked.

The Nuggets clear 23m in space, get a backup center, a ball handler and keep Cam, Gordon & Watson. They add Durant as a 2nd option - who is a more resilient scorer than Murray (who can be bothered with tough, physical defenders). When you need a bucket, Durant can ISO while the rest of the time, he is an elite catch and shoot player and cutter. Two profiles that fit fantastically well with Jokic. Defensively, the Nuggets improve as Durant is still a positive defender and provides some weak side rim protection. Playing Watson as a POA defender alongside Gordon who is their defensive coordinator upgrades their starting unit on that side of the ball. Lastly, Reed is a credible ball handler that can bring the ball up, pass it to Jokic & space or even create when Jokic is sitting. Denver can also start Cam Johnson & Durant to bring AG off the bench if they want to preserve him.

Both teams need to build out their benches but FVV, Braun, DFS & Adams is a nice start for the rockets while Brown, THJ, Cam Johnson, Spencer Jones & Capela is historically one of the better benches for a Jokic team.

Quick hot takes after that game three...

Spurs just learned what happened to us. If you keep trapping/doubling Shai, those OKC role players are eventually going to knock down shots. OKC's depth is too strong; their bench scored 55 more points than the Spurs bench! Thanks Morey for giving McCain for basically free. glad his a** got fired.

I think Spurs may be limited given Wemby can't dominate offensively yet (needs a guard to open up looks for him sort of like AD) and they look like they're fatiguing physically. That inexperience also causing a lot of bad offensive play and turn overs. Castle and Harper put up doo doo's. Could use a certain PF named Giannis, but oh well...
