We can argue semantics about the age an NBA’s prime starts and finishes. But we all know that the Giannis trade is closer to Shaq being traded in 04 than it is to Luka being traded at 25.

One is entering their prime of 25-32 and one is leaving it. One is a cerebral on the floor player and one is an athletic freak (these tend to age less gracefully).

I know this is crazy to say, but Giannis is closer to AD (an ageing two way all nba player) than he is to Luka (at the peak of his powers offensive player).

I don’t think we’ll see another situation like the Mavs trading away a top 5 MVP player for the next 7 years again. So my point still stands, you can’t build a process where you get those guys reliably, so we shouldn’t give Pelinka flowers for something that by all reports was a rogue agent making a mistake.

When it comes to the buyout, it is weird I’m curious about our options?

rumors or Lonzo, CP3, DeMar, Klay…kinda curious of Utah’s love for Love in that same vain….

anyways, don’t fully @ me. I’m not saying we need any of these people. Lonzo and/or Klay would be interesting, just not sure if that tips our scales or not…just yet.

but I have to believe that something good can still happen tomorrow. I’m not expecting BIG, and I don’t know that BIG is needed, but some of the 3-and-D names that have gone around seem interesting…that are still available.

If I'm Klay, I would have asked for a buyout a long time ago. Mavs would have probably honored it considering they sold him as a shooter on a contending squad with Luka.

Not entirely sure what Klay is doing. He'd be a Lakers by now if he put pressure on them and fit in perfectly with the Lakers system.

I think if this Giannis debacle drags on into next year, forget about him. He'll be a year older, is starting to get injury prone, and I'd rather the Lakers focus their attention at getting Jokic in free agency. Better player, better longevity, and he's great friends with Luka.

One upsetting thing about this though is how the Lakers haven't found a way to get even marginally better. You just need 2 players who can give you solid minutes as a playable roster spot. Knecht, Maxi, and Gabe are essentially useless and have no role on the Lakers any longer. The Lakers couldn't find two players by trading some 2nd rounders or offering a salary dump? It feels like a total waste of Luka's great season and Reaves being paid peanuts but is a top 25 player in the league. Lakers should have done more... maybe there's some surprise move being made here but I would be in favor of the Lakers moving on from Rob. Nothing against Rob but I think he's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and they're just not into dealing with him. Might need a change of character to run the show.

I feel like the Mavs would do Klay a solid knowing they sold him on a team that they've essentially traded or are trading away.

He's at the age and has the respect amongst the league to be able to get traded to a team where he can try to contend.

I know Mavs won't trade with the Lakers just to prevent more negative PR but if the Lakers could offer them a couple of 2nd's and Gabe+Knecht, it's better than having Klay just sit on your roster doing nothing.

Probably would have got it if Draymond wasn't in the deal.

As much as I don’t like our FO, I’m glad it’s not the Warriors’. That’s all they could get for Kuminga? A Porzingis who has played 17 games this year? Yeah sure maybe it gives them some flexibility, but wow.

Do we have the ability to get players who are bought out? If we can have Klay and Middleton, I’ll be happy with no trades
