Or if you're building around Luka/Reaves, (I'm against, but it is what it is), please make this team more athletic. Get some footspeed and athletes. If Ayton continues to do well, I'd like to sign him long-term.

I think we have to bring back Ayton. He's more than shown he still has the talent that got him drafted. Plus, I don't want another guy that we got a deal on to end up just walking away. I totally get there was nothing we could do in some cases, but a talented big doesn't just fall in your lap like this.

I do like the small moves they made this summer; I like the way Rob moved to get Theiro (perfect skillset who will help eventually, IMO), Nick Jones Jr has some potential (was instrumental in the Portland game in us winning it), they signed Bufkin.

I'm all for keeping Ayton. That would help. It helps just having the resources to go out and scout domestically and internationally, IMO.

I'm hoping that every team is so scared of how good OKC is going to be over the next 5 years that we are able to slip in a couple of good deals since we are not the current boogyman.

Yeah Hopefully. If we bring in some guys with good relationships around the league we should be okay.

It' still early in the season, but I think everyone should be a bit concerned about the Thunder getting the number one pick with that unprotected first from the Clippers.

For whatever reason, I'm still not a believer in the Rockets.

Ruh Roh Rob …. that’s like in corporate world when a high priced consulting firm is brought in and those (not so?) cheery people take you to lunch and want to get to know what exactly you do. So they can consult better Or take your job. Beginning of the end. We had one gal come in at WBR with her couple of helpers, sitting in on meetings and such that just started putting their fingers into everyone else’s business for about a year. And were feared and resented as changes happened. Finally she got let go and my department broke out champagne and had a party at like 10AM that morning. A real 2 face she was.

He would have been injured here too. We dodged a major bullet. Look, I was the biggest Kawhi fan around here. He played at the school I did my post graduate work at. He was a huge college player here, I was thrilled to see his success. But the thing is, after his problems everywhere, he has completely lost his luster to me. At this point, personally, I think he should just retire and quit living so large. He has zero marketability to make money anywhere outside the league, don't even think he will get any commentator type gigs because he has always been so quite. I would NEVER sign him to another contract if I was an owner. I suspect he is a lousy locker room guy too.

I think we might actually have a shot. OKC is going to have to pay Dort soon, so they might have a hard time doing that, let alone pay Ellis. I mean, he could be a rental and, sure they could offer the best draft pick haul for sure, and Ellis gets pid liek 3 million so not hard to match.

Yeah, I think Cranjis also threw out some numbers suggesting that Ayton has not been very good defensively so far. Offensively he's been very nice. We'll see, we may be able to find a different center next summer that's a better defensive anchor for this team, but I think it's very unlikely we'll find a better offensive P&R partner for Luka and Austin.

there's a long time between now and the summer, so i'm not ready to render that kind of verdict on ayton. he's a huge upgrade from just having hayes as a starting center, and that is driving some of the excitement, i think. but really, he seems like the exact same guy to me. and that's good! i said i would have traded gabe/kleber/vando for him before he ended up getting bought out.

i just wouldn't rule out us upgrading if he doesn't opt in. we've done this kind of thing before.

it would be a weird move for them to use assets just to essentially keep ellis from us for half a season. ellis is likely to command mle or more next summer, imo (unless he gets hurt or sac just buries him for the whole year, lol). not sure it would make sense for okc to use assets to get ellis, then dump caruso or dort, only to have to pay ellis something close to their salaries. and they can't afford to give ellis the raise he has coming without offloading something meaningful, imo.

    can ohtani shoot 3s?

guessing this is just for the transition phase. not envisioning either of those guys leaving baseball or doing both jobs at the same time

Yeah. And these are not your friends Rob, but for next year or so they can help you and the team a lot. Why Jeanie gave you your golden parachute … for the inevitable to come. Let’s see how good you guys can make this team in the meantime.

Not so sure. He is the true man of Glass. He could have been just as injured with us as he was/is with the Flippers. It’s not like we were known for having a great medical team.

Ellis can't get off the bench on a 3 win team, I'm not sure he’s going to command, the full MLE anywhere. It's a long season, it's hard to say who's going to be available by the trade deadline. It might be some surprises, or straight out shockers. I'm curious as the whether, we see more guys just going for a buyout, and heading to whatever contender, has the roster spot, role, and cash available to take them. Taking a buyout in order to chip chase, might become the new thing.

I have been saying this since his name first came up as a buyout candidate. He has been very good offensively, but we all know that’s not the problem with this team. I think we will bring him back and add a defensive minded big to be his backup. It would also help to add a two way 4 who is also athletic. Adou anyone? He probably won’t be ready by then, but we can hope. We need a new shooting staff to work with the kid so he can turn into that piece for us.
