Id much rather have Grant then Klay bot 2 FRP is steep. His contract is bad. Bridges was way overpay but at least contract was great

Lol you’re a better man than I am then. If Rob gave Klay a 4 year deal in almost any circumstance above like mini-MLE money, I’ll be calling for his head. I saw you said it’s a LeBron move, but no, Rob is the GM, you don’t make Russ type moves for LeBron again, if Bron doesn’t like it he can walk and get the MLE somewhere. But we know he won’t, he’s stuck here for the big money, so too bad. As much as I criticize and question Rob though, I think he’s smarter than that, he’s not late stage Jim & Mitch bad at all. Your favorite podcaster Anthony Irwin said on a show a little while back that Klutch’s influence on the Lakers isn’t as strong as it once was too, they have influence, but not for insane deals like Klay at 70 mil because LeBron wants it would be. I know Klay isn’t with Klutch, I just mean to me it seems as much as the Lakers want to keep LeBron happy, they won’t screw the franchise over for it, I know I keep repeating myself, but the Russ trade ended that.

I should say in a vacuum Grant for 2 picks isn’t outrageous but I still think it’s a Lakers tax more likely than not. They know we want him. I’m not sure he is that hot of a property beyond us. I do want to get him and a big.

I think this is probably the quote you’re looking for. He is implying we’d need to do a sign and trade at a high price. Not a fan of that all

Meh..the way they are throwing out FRP like candy lately? To grab a two way guy, entering his prime, on a 30M contract moving forward? AD will be making over 60M next season, Jerami Grant is a bargain, on our frontcourt for the next 3 seasons.

Two picks is a fair price, especially since we just had a top 10 draft pick, fall into our lap at 17.

So it sounds like if the money is equal he would probably pick us over Dallas. Warriors seem okay with doing a S&T with his preferred destination. It's going to be tough to judge any of this in a vacuum, because I agree that sending out one or two of our tradeable salaries to sign Klay to 4/$70 million doesn't sound great. And I'm probably higher on Klay than most. But I could see myself coming around on it depending on what other moves we make and how the roster looks a week from now.

Jokic and Murray, will probably play more with him, in 1 season, than Lebron and AD did in two. Double most likely.

I heard the Bulls are offering a first to come off of that contract and honestly Lavine and a first is likely a yes from me. Especially if it’s unprotected

I don’t see this as a “Russ type move.” That was never going to work for many reasons, even though Russ is still good at certain things - just paint and assist things. Not elite though.
Klay is still an elite shooter, and a champion and payoff performer. His one skill is exactly what we need and have not had. He wants the shot when it matters most. Not even Bron is that fearless. Klay has that Kobe “I will live with it” mentality. We struggled to close out games because of too much iso with AD or Bron. We were great when Reeves or DLO did hit in the clutch, but was rare in playoffs, yet enough to get to the WCF two years ago - defeating the then defending champs along the way. Having Klay helps Bron and AD and Reeves finish in clutch moments.

I agree - a 4 year deal is too much for him. But…all in means all in for Bron. Trading DLO and getting Klay and Demar would be amazing, if all stay healthy. That would mean we likely trade a 1st and/or Knecht, and keep Reeves. Ad/Bron played more games than we expected last year. We need youth to get through the season…knowing AD and Bron will need to miss 15-20 games..but still need to avoid the play-in in a tough West. So I hope we don’t get Klay and another aging guy, but do get Klay and some youth (keeping Knecht).

I don't like this. He is a only mid-range shooter. Does that work with modern analytics based basketball plan that Reddick want's to establish on the Lakers? I'm not sure. I know DDR is the better at it than anyone in the league though.

Theoretically, Russ could be a good fit in Denver. I thought their loss to the Wolves highlighted a need for more athleticism on the perimeter and someone who can come off the bench and put pressure on the rim off the dribble (they had literally no one who could do this). He's an upgrade over Reggie Jackson in that role. But that's basically what the Clippers wanted him to do. He did it pretty well after he got bought out in 2023, but got tired of it this season and asked out. I don't see him being happy with it in Denver either.

yeah I still don't like the Rozan fit. He would work well if we didn't have Lebron.

I wouldn't give up a FRP, in any fashion for Klay Thompson.

Boston C Bags guard Derrick White has agreed on a four-year, $125.9 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal includes a player option.
So they are going to Phoenix and Clippers territory ..

We need somebody, that can get buckets consistently period. (especially in the playoffs)Lebron is morphing into World B Free, at this point. AD and Demarr, can do some serious damage, in the midrange, with James as a floor spacer.
