I would love to see Klay finish his career as a Laker. It just feels right. I think it would be a steal if he chose to play for the MLE.
Caleb Martin seems like he could get more than the MLE because of his ability to play on both sides of the ball. Of course ai would love him in the PNG. He was exceptional for the Heat just two playoffs ago.
As I said before, I don’t think Lebron will take less, but I’ve been know to be wrong, from time to time.

 

I like Carter as an option too, but he has a decent enough injury history for me to go in a different direction first.

 

Sounds like DLo will be opting in but we will try to trade him. It really is too bad we didn’t get Dejaunte but that ship has sailed.


I would welcome a DLo for Wendell Carter Jr trade, Orlando can absorb the salary difference which would help the minimize the pay cut Lebron will take for us to unlock the full MLE.

A lot of moving parts but if we can get Klay Thompson for the MLE that would be the ideal scenario.

I think we would still need an upgrade at point guard but not sure who would be available at that point unless Chris Paul or Spencer Dinwiddie agrees to come for the minimum

I don't like the idea of Lebron taking an 18M dollar paycut. Oh sure...Lebron's already a billionaire, the money won't hurt him. The Lakers would absolutely benefit from him doing it.

I don't like it on principle tho. These teams don't care about your sacrifice. Where is Harden now? With the Flippers. Look at Jordan...all those years of taking less than he was worth, because he made all that endorsement money. It set the bar lower for his peers, and a lot of the top guys of his era complained about that. Once he upped his price to match his worth, what happened? They broke up the Bulls and he finished his career in Washington. The Bulls didn't even offer him a minor stake in the team.

No good deed goes unpunished, Jeanie needs to stop being cheap, we could have kept those contracts we acquired with Beasley and Bamba, we'd have more options for trades last season and now.

It's a business at the end of the day, the teams damn sure operate that way, the players should too IMO.
