I think the full effect of the luxury tax really only comes to fruition this year with the punitive repeater multipliers. Boston goes from paying 58m this year to potentially 280m if they resign their team. So they'll most likely get rid of Jrue, Porzingis and another bench piece. That's a really different team then and nowhere near as scary. If Horford breaks down its White, Brown and Tatum only.

The suns are going to blow up their team because of the taxes, what's the point of paying 160m in taxes to not make the playoffs - so they're going to get rid of Durant. When would a team ever do that?

The wolves are going to have to let NAW go and most likely another piece to avoid a bad tax bill. That's most likely DDV as well.

The Knicks have to resign Bridges and Mitchell Robinson in 26/27. At that point they'll be facing a luxury tax bill of over 200m+. They'll have to get rid of one bench piece and one (or two) of these guys; Hart, Robinson, Bridges or OG.

If Philly signs Grimes to a big contract, they're going to be paying a huge amount for Embiid, PG, Maxey and Grimes. If they continue to be injury prone, that's 100m extra for not making the playoffs.

Cleveland have to make some hard decisions now or they're going to be really top heavy. Same thing with the Pacers and choosing between Turner & Mathurin.

We don't have cap space, but we have 70m odd in contracts we could trade and most of them are expiring:

    Shake (3m)
    Kleber (11m)
    Gabe (11.5m)
    DFS (15.4m)
    Rui (18.3m)

    Vando (11.6m) (not expiring)

We also have a first round pick and 3-4 swaps available. I'm not saying we're going to be in play for the big pieces. But you could get some auxiliary pieces that have to be moved. Whats better for a team? Getting some assets back, or just being forced not to resign their important players?

Man...if we get bounced early again next season, Rob and JJ both need to be fired. Period end of story!

I'm not sure why they let him do that.

It’s going to take at least a couple more seasons to get enough good pieces in order to really compete for a Chip.

LOL another ridiculous definitive “Period” proclamation. Luck and health and s*** happens injuries at the wrong times have zero bearing same as they do every other year. It’s always a crap shoot no matter how well done on paper.

    You’re welcome

If we lose 4 straight playoffs series with a healthy Lebron/AD and a healthy Lebron/Luka the GM has to go!
