I know, right? Every year, I half-expect him to land on the Lakers. Love it or hate it — it just feels like some kind of cosmic justice.

Ok..going in a different direction here for a second. I know it's way early and all BUT.

Brooklyn has 4 picks in the 1st rd in this upcoming draft. I have a feeling that Rob is going to try and dangle Dalton, and try to snag one of them.

At the moment, I have my eyes on Johni Broome.. Center, from Auburn. Projected currently as a late 1st rd pick.

I know next to nothing about the prospects in this year's draft, but yeah I'm not opposed to using Dalton to trade into the 1st round for a big that we like. But I'm concerned we run into the same issue that caused Dalton to fall to us in the first place; other GMs don't like that he's already 23. They'd rather go for a mystery box 18-19 year old like Maluach.

The same thing is why Broome is projected as a late 1st rd prospect.

Dalton can hoop tho, if he got some PT somewhere, that isn't concerned about the playoffs for a few seasons. I think he'll shine and put up some decent numbers.

I don’t want Chris Paul. Do you take the ball out of the hands of better players?

I don’t. He’ll be 40. Put him out to pasture somewhere else.

What if I let you shoot him first?

JJ played with him. Wonder if he has any interest in him in a backup role if he’d even accept it.

If coach was for it, I’d live with it.

if we move gabe, i totally see cp joining up. then again, like others, i've expected him here for years now, and it never happens. teams keeping paying him--either by picking up his option to trade it or by giving him more money than i expected like SA did.

if he ever actually hits the vet min market, i feel like he's here.

i'm not sure i trade knecht for a pick. again, if we weren't trying to contend, his rookie numbers would have looked much more impressive, and he's cost-controlled for another couple years.

if knecht is moved, i still think it's going the other direction--to get an already established player.

He and JJ are extremely close. I didn't even mention that angle in my post.

JJ says he's like a brother and they talk often. After JJ's house burned down and his boys lost their signed jersey collection, (we played the Spurs right after) CP made sure he and Wemby signed jerseys for them.

I think he's 1000% a backup wherever he finishes up. If i woke up this summer and saw a headline that we traded Gabe + stuff for a big or 2 way wing upgrade and planned to sign CP to fill that backup PG spot...I wouldn't be at all surprised.

btw, merging discussions: gabe/kleber/knecht/1st for claxton works. not sure if bkn bites, but that's a young player with potential, expirings, and a first rounder. it's not nothing. you pull that and sign cp3 to play 20mpg at pg, and you're in business next year. like maybe title favorite business.

    That's super interesting.
With Goodwin resurgence, we really have Gabe as an excellent trading piece. We can get a starting caliber type of player with that package without losing depth.

CP3 is simply a backup at this point. He comes off the bench and I would not play him for more than 20 mpg in order to preserve his body. He's smart and crafty, he certainly would not cause any problems. The guy is still, like... 9/7 player, or something similar, being able to shoot the ball with great accuracy. We could use that.

he actually started all 82 games for SA this year. and played 28mpg! but he came off the bench in gs (still for 26mpg).

the wheels have always threatened to fall completely off and still haven't.

In the event we trade Gabe, I’ll pass on CP3. In the past he’s been intriguing because we needed more ball handling and playmaking, but we have plenty of that post Luka trade. I’d rather take a flier on a defensive guard with some athleticism, like we did with Goodwin or the Clips did with Dunn.

I think he literally has one sinew left holding his hamstrings to the bone

things could literally end at any moment with him, but in limited minutes, maybe it’s possible

Well we couldn't trade him specifically just for the draft pick. I like Sharpe and a late 1st rd pick, for Dalton and the pick we tried to trade for Mark Williams. For a guy we really like.

IDK..that's shooting our whole wad, just for Claxton tho, I'm not sure I like him that much. Gabe and Kleber could be flipped for someone else. I'd rather split up our trade assets for 2 moves, while keeping the majority of our core intact.
