Oh absolutely. I don't think Tatum is even top10.
You swap him with Shai, Ant, Bron/Luka, Giannis, etc and their teams are worse and Boston better. Not even going to Centers because of the position mismatch.

He did great last year though, but it's still someone that I think benefits more of the system and supporting cast rather than being THE GUY.

it's silly to argue it, imo. boston kept getting upset because neither tatum nor brown was a heady playmaker, nor was either a threat to just go supernova for 60 points on you in a key game.

they got holiday and boom. ring.

but tatum and brown are both good #2s. for all the crap AD got here as a robin, boston won with two robins as batmen. holiday and horford are, ironically, the batmen there.

How terrible of a person does it make me that my first thought was: I wonder if it was because of those s***ty shoes? I mean they've nearly ruined the career of his son.

    https://theringer.com/2025/02/18/nba/nba-expansion-teams-las-vegas-seattle-adam-silver-future

Very interesting ringer article: the gist is that top tier talent really hasn't changed even with international expansion/growth. This is even true for tier 2 players but the where the latent has really blown up in the tier 3 types (so superstars and stars have stayed the same in quantity but the quality roleplayers have exploded. Boston lucked onto just a bunch of not Tier 1 but better than tier 3 guys (Jrue, White, and lucked out Porzinigi's health). So they got roster from 1-6 (i'd include Horford in limited minutes) of one superstar but not quite generational player supported by a bunch of stars. It's like they had a 40 yo old Lebron with 5 AR's for their respective positions around him.

Lakers last 2 years have gone from 2 generational players, one star, then fell off a cliff after that
This still makes me think they would have won a title at least 2 years if they had DFS in that roster due to the top end talent the Lakers were putting out. Needed that one more quality roleplayer to match what Denver was throwing out in those finishing lineups and teh Lakers had basically nothing outside of the big 3

my first thought was AI joke or April 1st. It's not the 1st of April, so now I have to do a search. Yep, it's real.

In most cases, I'd like to think I'd feel sorry for someone in this situation. I don't feel those feelings for some reason.

i see this season as playing with house money

assuming luka's healthy and his leg isn't cooked, pelinka will spend the offseason building around him for a title run next season

Well Kareem referred to him with his wish for his recovery as the GOAT dad. LaVar’s already gotten a huge overpay in good will just for that. ;)

yeah, we were dead in the water before the trade, and the in-season trade landscape was looking bleak.

i wish we came out of the trade stronger, but i'm not too worried about this year anymore, as i believe our window got pried back open.

Mark Williams looked ok but frankly not worth Dalton and a first.
Lebron freaking posted him up and he couldn't post up Lebron on the other end
