different (inverse) version of the laker tax: nobody is envious/jealous/afraid of okc. much easier to be the gm there.

THT's three never came around, and after a very good start (in a non-trivial sample size) as a defender, he regressed. he has the tools to be a very good defender of sfs and sgs, imo, but he just...stopped doing it.

maybe signing for the vet min this offseason will snap him into developing properly.

anyway, we could have had both. i've never blamed lebron for caruso leaving. that's all on ownership to me. no way rob just thought it was an overpay. now, he made a bad choice if it was between the two, but no serious organization has to make that choice, imo.

That’s not Donald Sutherland. It’s Lou Adler.

    Okay.It could be interesting.
Orlando ready to offer Klay Thompson only a short-term agreement (Jake Fisher)

The interest of Magic in Klay Thompson is exaggerated.

Orlando Ready to offer Klay State improved version of the contract Joe Ingles for two years with the club option for second season .According to the source, the offer Orlando may be lower than what was given to the basketball player before the start of the season, and do not reach the $ 25 million per year.
Can Lakers offer something similar ?
He still better than CP3 if money isn't issue

I’m curious what exactly Utah would be looking for in a Kessler trade

I’m not too familiar with his game but thought he had the reputation of a rim protector and lob threat which obviously we need. Is he one of those centers though who is too slow so he overall still becomes a liability?

I doubt it, but I wonder if something like JHS and removing the protections on the 2027 pick we owe Utah would be enough for Kessler

One thing of note. If Dlo pts in, and we do nothing but sign Christie to a deal starting at 7 million, for a 15-man roster, our salary ends up being approximately $190,837,719 (assuming Reddish and Hayes opt in). That would put us about 1 million or so above the second apron. Lakers likely want to be below the apron, so there could be attempted salary dumps in this scenario. But, even if Dlo opts out, our salaries would only put us 5 million or so below the first apron, meaning we still don't have enough money for the TPMLE, unless we shed some salary.

    Roster # Player Salary
    1 James $ 51,415,938
    2 Davis $ 43,219,440
    3 Russell $ 18,692,307
    4 Hachimura $ 17,000,000
    5 Reaves $ 12,976,362
    6 Vincent $ 11,000,000
    7 Vanderbilt $ 10,714,286
    8 JHS $ 3,879,840
    9 Wood $ 3,036,040
    10 Hayes $ 2,463,946
    11 Reddish $ 2,463,946
    12 Christie $ 7,000,000
    13 #17 $ 3,191,900
    14 #56 $ 1,891,857
    15 Lewis $ 1,891,857
    Total $ 190,837,719

Yeah he's slow. Don't have much of an offensive game but is a great rim protector. He's built like Zu but with less offense and better defense. Don't understand what Utah is doing, maybe they know something about him and want to sell high?
He lost minutes late last year but I thought it was because he was making them too good.

Also read that Jimmy is to be traded by Miami. Makes sense but really don't know which team will send juicy assets for him to make it worth. It has to be someone desperate. Knicks? Nets? Houston?

What kind of move do you think they will make? I think they could still be looking at trading for a complimentary guard to Reaves. #17 and 2029 1st to move up for Carter actually adds salary though. With that being said, I think they are going to try and get Carter. Lakers also could look to get Melton with the TPMLE (if they don't get Carter). Finding a taker for Vincent, Rui, or Vando would be ideal, in that order. I guess if Lakers prefer a center over Carter, they could still add Melton in free agency.

LeBron James is expected to opt out.
Can he sign for like 48 millions instead of 51 ?

actually, i think if management presented some scenario wherein him taking a couple million less would make something possible, he might do it. that's unlikely, though.

lol nothing like people would hope. something like gabe/jhs/17 for schroder and a future lotto protected 1st? something that cuts current salary without hurting talent too much or emptying future assets.

i'm sure we're aiming higher than that to start, though. gabe/jhs/wood/17 is enough salary to get sexton, but that adds money rather than subtracts it (though it's pretty close after 17 is signed).

again, i think plan A is murray, but i think that's probably not happening.

Dirk and Duncan did it why LeBron can't ?
It's not a minimum that some aka "insiders" are expecting

you must have missed this discussion weeks ago when i brought up duncan and dirk as guys who did this because they wanted to win (in duncan's case, it worked!). everyone (but me) concluded that's for suckas!

in truth, even if lebron took a big cut, it's not like it would open a max slot for us. if he and dlo opt out, we only have about 32 million to spend under the cap.

Olivier Rioux makes Zach Edey look like Muggsy Bogues.

An incoming Florida basketball freshman, Rioux has gone viral in recent days after internet sleuths discovered his bio page on the school’s athletic website lists him at a staggering 7-foot-9.

That height would make the Montreal native the tallest college basketball player of all time, passing former 7-foot-8 Florida Tech and Mountain State center Paul Sturgess, according to Fox Sports.
