    Yeah it makes sense.
I'm only worried that Kessler is not the type of player that will keep us from being bad post-Bron/AD, which are the years of the picks we are giving up (29 and 31).
He's a good player, and while it addresses a need and our team improves right now, we are still outside of the top4 in the West and don't become contenders with that move, at the same time it reduces our chances for a bigger move in the upcoming years.
I would rather give those picks for someone that can hold the fort in those years to at least be competitive or that at least makes us a contender right now. I don't think Kessler does either

something else we're not privy to--but i bet ainge and rob are--is what kessler's agent is asking for, extension-wise. to me, the only reason the guy's available in trade is if his agent has made noise about hartenstein money.

Good read yeah, that Hartenstein deal is likely in his head. I would be asking for similar too, if I were him. But it's an overpay, imo.
But we could probably do it, as it should start kicking after Bron is gone. Cap was expected to have a big rise too, so maybe it wouldn't be that bad of a contract

Zubac is out rebounding AD this year. How bout them apples?

I guess we’ll be getting destroyed by Boston a little later.

Zubac is a 5, AD is a 4, he should be outrebounding him, out shotblocking him too.

    No to Zo and Bruce.

    I’d be happy with Vuc.

Feel like we are all in on Kessler though.

I expect something to shake out fairly soon.

If we’re really concerned about giving up our firsts I don’t get not going ahead with Vuc (or even Richards when he was available).

    Sexton/Kessler or Brogdon/Valanciuna,

sounds like a Rob move. The latter shouldn't come with FRP involved. I'd hate to have to pick up Brogdon.

I don't want Sexton either - I do like Kessler though.

I"m all in the Reaves contract lol - I want a move for Kessler and then flip the trash err roleplayers for BI to come back to the Lakers.

Don't put my man JR in there with those two - when he had on his head straight with the Cavs he outplayed a prime Klay Thompson in maybe the ultimate Game 7 in NBA history and won a 6th man of the year.

Agree on Sexton I don't particularly like him mainly because his size really hurts him on offense/defense IMO (plays small while being small compared to even Monk) but he fits what this team needs as the Lakers do need a heat check as Knecht is a roller coaster ride right now and Dlo is long gone. How do you play Sexton with Gabe though - I want to avoid GM's giving coaches to play small after the Ham Hand in Pockets Era

Watch the AD postgame interview. He plainly says he prefers not to play the 5. Get the man some adequate help Rob.

Anthony Davis believes the Los Angeles Lakers are just a couple of players away from being a title contender. He hopes one of the additions the team adds before the Feb. 6 trade deadline is a center.

"I think we need another big," Davis told ESPN's Shams Charania this week. "I feel like I've always been at my best when I've been the 4, having a big out there."

"We have to play perfect basketball," James said after the defeat

The Lakers won the championship in 2020 with what Davis called "the perfect construction" of a team. In addition to good shooters and defensive players, Davis pointed to the team's size, which allowed him to play what he feels is his natural position of power forward.

"We know it worked when we won a championship with JaVale [McGee] and Dwight [Howard] at the 5 and I'm at the 4," he told Charania.

My expectations of him would be low but I do think we could use him with DLO gone.

i'd rather just get kessler by himself. i was on the sexton/kessler trade when i thought it would be dlo's expiring that was carrying some weight in the deal. now, we'd have to add players with years on their deal beyond this one, and you know ainge will be like "that's another first right there!"

i don't think we have the assets to address both a dlo replacement and a center. this is part of why i wasn't gaga over moving dlo for a wing--even a wing i like, who's clearly more valuable than dlo. still a wing. not really an area of weakness, imo.

btw, if we're really desperate for another shot creator, make a move that clears a roster spot and bring back our ol' pal lonnie.
