Dallas Mavs ready to trade e Daniel Gafford

Mavs has put a center on the trade market, reports The Athletic. Club General Manager Nico Harrison is looking for a player on the trade market who will defend the perimeter.

Gafford has two seasons left on his contract.He will earn $ 13.4 million this season and $ 14.4 next. This season, Gafford, on average, scores 11.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 block shots per game

that would be a weird move considering that part of what vaulted them to contender status was 48mpg of solid center play from him and lively. not sure why they'd mess with that formula right now, tbh.

There's always these guys like Richards, Gafford, Bitadze and so on who are lost in some bad team's squad depth and that can fit perfectly in contenders.
Sharpe can be another one. Eubanks or Zach Collins could be serviceable. Although I guess we are going with our current guys based on what JJ said when talking about Jemison.

On the guard side of this, Cole Anthony is the one. But he would compete for minutes with Gabe, who we are probably happy with now, he's been playing better and looks like a coach's favorite for the way JJ sees the game.
But we do really need shot creation. JJ doesn't seem to like Milton. If Cam Johnson goes to the Cavs for LeVert, he would be a great fit for us.
Fontecchio, Saddiq Bey, Alec Burks or Bones Hyland from our neighbors provide a scoring punch too.

But yeah, none of these guys move the needle. They just might be able got cheap while addressing one of the 2 glaring needs of this roster. I'm more and more convinced we won't do a smaller move like this. We probably only do a trade if it's for a bigger fish, including with the center position
