You can have a potty mouth and not be involved in gangs, guns, and have the worst public father influence in the entire league.

Media training or serious franchise can fix Ant. You can't fix Ja. At least not in Memphis.

In addition to Sexton/Kessler, the other name I'll keep harping on is Bruce Brown. He made his season debut the other night coming back from a knee injury. Stein thinks he'll be available for seconds (not sure how many we have left). If he looks healthy over the next couple of weeks, I hope we push for him. Max's development has been huge for us, but Brown can do what we need from Max at a high level right now. Gabe/Vando/JHS works with salary, I'd be willing to go up to include one of the 1sts if he looks healthy.

IF he's right. Interest was clearly there, we thought we had him before Indy offered him 2x the money. I'm just doubtful there's enough time to determine that before the deadline. Have you met our medical team?

Also, according to Irwin, we're really worried about his medicals. He's made a point to hammer that home on multiple pods to the point it sounds like that would scare us off. Maybe if they're willing to take on our injury (Vando) for their injury (Brown). But Brown is expiring, why would they do that and why would we give up a first for an expiring?

Raptors do it to get some asset instead of him walking for nothing. If I were running that team I'd be fine taking on roughly $20 million in future salary if it meant we got a protected first from us. That team is so far from contention, they're going to be renting cap space anyway. If Gabe continues to play better and Vando actually gets healthy, maybe you can flip them for assets too.

If I were Rob I'd do it, even though he's an expiring, because he's the only guy I see out there right now with the skillset we need. If Brown is healthy I think a closing lineup of AR/Brown/LeBron/DFS/AD could go toe to toe with anyone. Rui/Max/Dalton/Milton/Hayes/Wood/Reddish isn't an elite bench or anything, but its 7 legit NBA caliber players. I genuinely believe that team could make it out of the West. If it doesn't work out on the court and/or Brown walks in the offseason, oh well. We tried. It would be frustrating but its not a crippling loss.

Yeah, that is a tough one. I like how Bruce could play 1-3 on defense and offense. He also hits 37% of his corner threes. If we send Vando + Gabe for him, they surely would want at least a 1st. I would consider it. We could also check with the Bulls about some of their players under contract. The Bulls seem to want expiring contracts. JHS + Wood + 2025 2nd for Ayo enough to move the needle for us? Ayo is owed 7 million per year for this season and next.

    Other points of significance

Vando is cooked. Pivoting back to what worked... what a crazy idea!

Gabe gets to audition for the permanent backup gig, sounds like.

Wiz are crazy. Have a feeling they'll be crawling back to us. Might be too late by then. Then Rob can give them the Costner Draft Day speech. Who's the David Putney equivalent though?

major obstacle to a valanciunas deal now is that we'd have to give up gabe (three mins or jhs stacked won't get there), and we're getting super thin at guard.

again weird that we've kicked tires on sharpe and didn't just include a wood/sharpe throw-in on this latest deal. makes me think bkn must value him more or we value him very little?

nick richards for jhs/wood/2nd seems fair to me. charlotte gets to take a look at another guard (they have some, but it's better than just picks). we could switch hayes for wood here, and it gives charlotte a different look behind mark williams and they'd have early bird rights on hayes if he works out.

guessing we've considered this and are maybe trying to wait out ainge on kessler.

    Very interesting stats :Magic2:

When Jokic is playing Nuggets are 1st in the league from 3 points and best offense.
Without Jokic, they're 29 from 3's and worst offense
And today he has 30+ 20 + triple double again

I have a question: as Keith Smith pointed out, DFS could opt out this summer and sign with the Lakers for additional seasons maybe less annually. Question: is there a way we could sign him to less money, remain under the first apron and have access to the full MLE, which will be over $14 million?

If that's the case, you could add a Bruce Brown next summer or another piece with that money.

pretty sure that answer is no. first apron is projected at about 196. we're at 181 without dlo's salary slot as it stands. we've got milton at 3 million and jhs at 4 million, and we could just cut either, but we'd still need 2 per for those salary slots, so we could only clear about 3 more. DFS would have to sign for like 6 per even in that case (i'm still not sure i have all the cap holds counted, either).

so, no, i don't think the mle will be in play (unless lebron offers to take a cut again).
