    Orlando has another injury ,damn
    Exits early with wrist sprain
    December 29, 2024
The Magic announced that Suggs sustained a right wrist sprain during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Nets and will not return.
So it's Pelicans in West and Magic in East

    LOL. That's funny.

I think you were the one of 3-4 people who liked the trade when it happened. Tough crowd.

It wasn't a bad move. It was decent. The homerun is a Sexton/Kessler. Probably won't happen.

Either way, DFS brings us some much needed defensive versatility. I don't think he was the defensive stopper he was in Dallas, but he still grades above average, IMO. I think Christie, Reddish, DFS, and Rui (he's improved defensively) make a very nice combination.

I would love to have be in the top 10 defensively. Would be nice.

Agreed. Getting Kessler and Sexton would be great.

I like that this improves our toughness and defense which were greatly needed. I also think we didn’t have to give up much since DLO has regressed and was clearly on the outs with the staff.

Bring in another big man and we’re rolling. As is, I still think we got better overall

Regardless of the message, once a d******, always a d******. Also, I'd take DLO over Young every day and twice on Sundays.

Sexton/Kessler does make a lot of sense with these quotes from Shams about wanting guys that can be here post-LeBron and us having the extra card to play with Utah specifically of removing the protections on the pick we already sent them. Problem is we’re probably trying to send them Gabe and Vando, neither of which are appealing contracts right now.

Shams said 3 to 4 years not five, and there’s several Laker players I don’t see wanting to look at for the next three or four years.

Listening to all the pods since the trade and here's a few tidbits...

-Irwin and Buha both said we've been talking to the Nets for a couple weeks now. It ramped up 48 hours prior to the deal. [Now the leak about the Grizz offer makes sense, Nets using it as leverage].

    - both said the expectation now is for this group to get 10-20 games together and we judge what they look like, what the team still needs, and how it looks as we should be getting some of our injured players back during that window too. UNLESS a too good to pass up deal falls in our lap.

    - Irwin and Lane both said that JJ was all in favor of/ pushing for the DFS acquisition. [Makes sense based on what he's said about him previously]

    We’ll see.
When Kokomo is our only other option, it’s a problem. Who knows, maybe Hayes or Wood will return and suddenly turn into viable defensive options?

trade question: we supposedly used our 2027 2nd rounder in the DFS deal, but it's the backup to the top-4 protected pick in the utah westbrook trade, right? is that legal?

so we really only traded 2 2nds. one was basically gone anyway. if we end up drafting top 4 in 2027, nets get nada.

I read that as we sent 3, but it could become 2 if somehow we got a top 4 pick in 2027.

I.e., they want Vando to get back on the court so it doesn't take extra draft capital for someone to take his contract.

I think Vando is cooked as it’s been a year since he played basketball. I don’t see how he comes back this season at this point.

    Agreed.

I just found that post and him still holding on to that grudge all these years later hilarious at this point.

A new MJ is going nuts again.

NEW YORK -- Anthony Edwards was fined $100,000 by the NBA on Sunday for using profanity during a live television interview, with the league increasing the amount after penalizing the Minnesota Timberwolves star for the third time in three weeks.

This penalty was for comments Edwards made after the Timberwolves rallied for a 113-112 victory Friday in Houston. The NBA said in the announcement that it was taking into account "Edwards' history of using profane language during media interviews."

He was fined $75,000 on Monday for public criticism of the officiating and using profanity after getting docked $25,000 for his comments in a Dec. 6 win at Golden State.

Edwards was also fined $35,000 on Nov. 17 for making an obscene gesture on the court.
I don't remember that many fines for 1 player

I think Herro got screwed in that deal. Thompson dragged him into it and then threw him. I don't know what he said, but have a hard time thinking that even if he trash talked him that he would have deserved to be tossed??!!??

one of my least liked Lakers of all time. DLO was way better and more important than Young has ever dreamed of.
