The NBA world has been waiting on us to move D'Angelo, it would seem.

I dunno, this seems like a pretty solid move to me, got a 3&D wing and a scoring guard, 2 playable guys for only one playable guy. 3 seconds is a lot in that we don’t have any more to use, but it doesn’t seem like a lot for the players we got, and as much as we will miss the big DLo games, in the long run he just wasn’t going to stick here and we needed to use his expiring. I’d be upset had we traded a first, but for 2nd rounders when we already have so many guys that are currently essentially 2nd rounders that need time to develop and see what we have with them (Bronny, Olivari, Koloko), it seems fine. You can always buy more 2nd rounders on draft days. I feel like this is a pretty solid move by Bob Todd, addresses a need we have now. Have to hope Gabe is healthy though after only playing 7 mins last night, he becomes more important with DLo gone. Unless they plan to play Milton as the backup guard I guess.

I envision DFS doing the same things for the Lakers that PJ Washington does for Dallas. Now they need to find a Gafford type big man

Yeah because they are tanking. Everything is the opposite when you are talking. Part of me was hoping Gabe would get hurt so his value would increase for tanking teams lol.

As many have said, Dlo had plenty of chances to stick here his second time around but just could not manage to produce consistently on offense or improve his defense enough. Sorry to see him go and it doesn't seem like the greatest trade but DFS is that wing defender we need. We were never going to get back the same amount of talent that Dlo had, but that wasn't the issue with him, he simply didn't live up to his potential. Ultimately though I'm good with this trade. Don't see us moving Gabe any more for Valanciunas. Maybe we'll trade Vando for a big.

We suddenly got better through some re-balancing, making us deeper and more tough. It's not that Dlo wasn't talented -- he was, and more so than the players we got. It's just that he's not exactly what we need at this point, while the guys we got are going to fit extremely well, especially Dorian.

Now, get that big while getting rid of some dead weight and we're suddenly looking a lot more dangerous.

The DFS & Milton trade is interesting and kind of balances the roster out a bit:

    AD /
    Lebron / Rui
    DFS / Rui / Knecht
    Christie / Knecht / Milton
    Reaves / Gabe / Milton

We have AD as the really lone big. Then we have Lebron, Rui & DFS for the 3 & 4 spots. We have Christie, Reaves and Knecht that can cover the 2 and a little bit of the 3 and Reaves, Gabe and Milton to playmake a bit at the 1.

We're still really weak at the backup big and could maybe package one of the corpses of Wood and Vando alongside Gabe to net us something decent? I know this has been beaten to death, but I'd love to revisit Myles Turner. They're kind of middling this season but I'm not sure if the Pacers consider Vando + Gabe + unprotected 1st for him and any seconds we have left?

I think Turner adds another 3&D player that bolsters our defence when AD sits and he can play alongside AD in a big lineup. It's always good to have more defenders than less.

So "maybe" Rob doesn't suck the proverbial big one after all and really wasn't "petrified" to do something .... anything ... and the abuse all season winds up when it's all said and done ACTUALLY just like it was first part of the season 2 years all the crap heaped on him for not (getting bent over early) trying to move Westbrick?

We will see how long the national media approves of this. Personally, I am critical when I think it’s warranted and tip my hat when I think we do something right. I do think this was a nice trade and am glad we pulled the trigger now instead of waiting longer.

I definitely think saving on the tax was a factor here. Another plus for Rob here if this works out the way we hope.

Here's what is most importation: Rob showed he's bought in on helping this team. That goodwill goes a long way with Bron and AD.

I don't think he's done. My ask was so something now to get us in the right direction and then make the follow up move when you can. He did just that. Getting this done before the calender flips was big time .

DLO is a better player than DFS. DFS is a better fit and a bigger need. DLO and the team showed that he was an expendable luxury. He can thank Austin and Gabe for expediting his exit.

Also significant: We moved his expiring and a wasted roster spot for a playoff performer and a NBA rotation combo guard. Also addressed distancing ourselves from that next apron, so if the next is a 2 for 1 we've already cleared enough $ to sign a FA or be a player in the buy out market.

    Next up: get a big.

Best case is DA stops being a a**hat and you trade JHS, Wood, 1st round pick and remove the protection from the pick they already have of ours for Kessler and Mills (expiring) . That's the highest ceiling raiser. Kessler is a difference making big and Mills is a break in case of emergency ancient PG.

If not that, try JHS, Wood, and 2nd for Richards.

Third option: JHS, CW, and 2nd for Sharpe and Watford (expiring needed to make salaries work). But if we were going to do that one, felt like we would've expanded today's trade unless we wanted to canvas the big market first and circle back if we can't find anything.

Could be. Edict from Jeanie. But I doubt that with these two guys coming back, from a team that finally was willing to accept, maybe even want what what we had to offer with DLO, for players Redick wanted (at least one of them) and we had dire need for in one or two spots ..... and maybe he finally did do good on the "margins" here with room now for more moves? Don't know but it's a possibility.

In the 2026 off-season, Lebron is projected to retire, and the Lakers are projected to have a ton of cap space. Lakers could also trade for Luka next season, and would have the 26,28, and 30 1st available for trade. Reaves/Rui/Gabe/DFS expiring contracts in 2025-2026.
