    Lateral move.
We close DLo chapter that was hindering our ability to move on. We get bigger and improve on defense.
Him and Reddish are kinda redundant but they can also be maddening on defense together. With Max, Bron and AD that's a long wingspan defense that can drive teams crazy to get some stops

Milton can get hot. Can be our Dindwiddie.

Hoping for an additional move to get a big, maybe moving JHS. We have no 2nd rounds though

3 second round picks for DFS and shake is laughable. this trade doesn't move the needle whatsoever and we all know they're both going to shoot 10 percentage points less with the lakers

    Random Thought I agree
I don't get his move in isolation. Rui, Knecht, and Christie have been trending up both offense and defense.

Lakers already have problems with turnovers and I'm sorry AR is not a PG. He's a playmaker like Lebron you want to save their legs and have guy who can initiate.

I like DFS and he's definitely a good add for the playoffs. Good chance Rui and Max could get played out of a series like Denver again.

Didn't really think of Shake as a PG
But again some big questions open up
Do they think Olivari is ready?
I think Vando is cooked healthwiseand likely now trade fodder
This trade makes a lot more sense if another move made but you just tossed your big expiring

I’m actually higher on this than most are.

DLO was clearly the odd man out. We’ve been trying to move on from him for all this time and found no takers so I’m just not sold we could get anyone better for him.

JJ seems to be high on DFS so I’d like to see what he can do with him.

right. who sits for DFS? lebron and rui are both 3/4s like DFS.

yeah, i've said the whole time that if dlo went, we better get another pg. milton isn't it.

DFS is probably more trustworthy in the playoffs, but we're hoping the guy from two or three years ago is still there. not sure.

we haven't acted like it at all, imo. we've cut his minutes back in the g league and not given him any burn on the big squad.

agree but nobody's taking him in his current condition, imo.

yep. we've still got all the firsts, but most of what we have left needs 1sts attached to move laterally, and we need to improve.

dlo's expiring plus the firsts was the only route, imo, and we've burned it.

this might mean that we read the landscape and decided the big move wasn't there to be had. i'll just be mad if something good happens with a 20 million expiring and firsts and we already spent ours.

DFS is a PO next year (don't like that) and milton has a year beyond next year, so if he continues to be as useless as he has been, that's another cam/wood/hayes contract on the books just eating a spot.

i don't care about them except we can't use them elsewhere now. we can buy seconds if we want them later, but we can't re-trade these.

i'm sure he will be a net positive add, particularly since dlo's having his worst season as a pro. i just think it's a really weird use of our biggest trade chip. as i said back when he first popped up on the radar last year, he really hasn't been the same player since he left dallas. i feel like everyone thinks they're getting dallas DFS, but that guy hasn't been seen since.

well, we're out of seconds now, right?

maybe we can consolidate a couple of wood/jhs/cam/hayes for a playable backup center with size? but now we have to add a first for that?

At this point, I honestly have to give the front office the benefit of the doubt and conclude that no one was really interested in DLO in a major deal even with his expiring contract.

I also think that JJ and LeBron were just ready to move on and JJ in particular was good with this move.

There’s definitely other guys I would have liked to see.

That would be my guess. How much I like giving up the first in a move like that depends highly on who we get back. Maybe we have targeted someone that hasn’t been mentioned yet. Short list of guys though.

The Nets were a bad fit to DFS. He was asked too much. I think he will thrive here. He will be our Vando. It just sucks we had to give up DLo for another Vando.

DLo was mostly playing off ball. For whatever reason, JJ didn't like DLo and didn't want him handling the rock, despite the best net positive when on the floor and a great A/T ratio.
He was already gone, so I'm glad we addressed another need with the trade. But it's only a lateral move for sure

We’ve been shopping Dlo for years now. There’s obviously not a market for him. Sure I’d like to have seen him included in a bigger trade but you can’t sell something no one wants.

Isn't DFS a power forward? We already have Lebron and Rui.

I remember that Milton was hot playing in Philadelphia and in playoffs vs C Bags e didn't disappear like D-lo .So maybe we getting lite D-lo and JJ will bring him back to that level, but have no idea what he did in Brooklyn
