There's nobody who's in prime if he's not already All Star that can improve Lakers and we have plenty of Heyes and Koloko already
And Ingram doesn't excite a lot of people and even LaVine is going to be 30 next season.

A first that won't convey, get what's likely an early 2nd back and eat long term salary.

Man if only we had expirings and a bushel of 2nd round picks. Oh... wait

By himself, no. I would if Sharpe was included though.

It should be clear now though, Nets are open for business.

If we're really interested in Cam Johnson, then stop wasting time.

Yup. Dlo/Vincent/Wood/2029 1st (top 7 protected), and 2031 1st (unprotected) to Brookyln for Cam Johnson/Sharpe works and leave Lakers 6.2 million under the apron. 4.5 million for Johnson's incentives and 1.7 to use on a free agent point guard.

I would have been open to trading Austin straight up for Herb Jones or the LaVine trade with Coby White also coming back. But now, I am feeling pretty good about Reaves being able to take over for Lebron as the primary facilitator, once Lebron retires. Without Bron in the game, we get a sample of what Austin's stats would look like with increased usage. Without LBJ, Austin goes from a 17-4-6 guy to perhaps 20-4-8. I also am feeling hopeful that we could aquire Cam for marginal players + up to both 1sts. Cam does not fit the superstar mold, but he would essentially be a near perfect fit for the trio of core players. We saw how great we looked when Knecht was lighting it up from 3. Johnson is kind of a more ready Knecht, if you will. Also, the emergence of Max as an excellent point of attack defender, has made it more clear what we should target in the trade market (shooter). Prior to Max's strong play, I was hoping we would get someone like Jones or Thybulle. Those great defenders are hard to find, so I'm glad Max has filled the rolls because it's much easier to find shooters.

I feel like Cam was the perfect fit for us, two seasons ago, when LeBron was still able to lead a team throughout a long playoff run. I think it’s just unrealistic now, based on how his body needs more recovery time.
I won’t be mad if we trade for him, but if it’s for two firsts, I will.

i'm warming to robert williams as a prime trade target.

    upload_2024-12-29_9-53-25.png

i'd add a lotto-protected swap next year that turns into a 2nd or two.

it leaves us without another pg beyond jhs, which worries me a lot, but we get two more defenders, one perimeter, one rim protector and some athleticism.

oh yes, definitely. but maybe it's like with shooters, where we're just bizarro land?

anyway, if williams is dead, so is wood, so we lost nothing there and it becomes dlo for thybulle (offense for defense).

thybulle has a PO next year and williams expires next year, so we're also not taking any long-term risks in this deal, imo. the swap lets portland look like it's getting a 1st. truth is they have no use for either player, imo. we have use for both.
