you know, I frigging forgot that we drafted Lonzo ahead of him. So weird.

A couple of points to make. Our drafting used to be considered so great but to me, we have lost our mystique. We have messed up with our youngsters more than most and even the guys who have hit pretty well, an awful lot of guys we could have developed ended out developing better elsewhere. Our single greatest success to date is Reaves and who knows if he ends out staying here after Lebron retires.

We have become a team that goes after an existing superstar, sure we developed Kobe but we bought Shaq and most of the rest of the guys on that team. I find myself wondering if, within the modern CBA, is it even possible to build the kind of team we would like?? Seems like you can get 2 guys and then you have to get lucky guys on the cheap. Teams simply NEED to draft well, and find solid contributors or they won't go very far. You need 4 solid offensive players, maybe 5 and you need 3 nearly great lockdown defensive players.

Agrees. This is a difficult tight rope to walk on. It will be difficult to adress all three. How would you prioritize those three things. I would put shooting, rebounding, and then defense.

 

What good is shooting if you can't rebound or defend? We already know how that story ends.

Means he'll miss the Lakers game. That's helpful. Just means they'll run it through Maxey more though and that's going to be ugly for us.

we don't always agree, but yes. defense first. we lost the identity and haven't gotten it back or attempted to do so. lebron and AD and offensive support isn't going to outscore people, but lebron and AD and some defenders are going to shut people down and score enough to beat them.

 

Agree or disagree on the process our end goal remains the same…..a team capable of legitimately contending for a championship
