gs lost two of its most valuable players. thompson fell off but was one of their top 6. paul was arguably as valuable as draymond. they replaced them with buddy hield and kyle anderson.

we brought back the same team--that was better than their team. but you can cry if you wish.

speaking of trying: both teams tried like hell to not be where they are right now. shuffling pieces to shuffle doesn't impress me. it's often worse than just waiting.

I'd try to waive some of the minimums and grab Yabasule. That dude looks like an NBA player now (I know he sucked on the C Bags) but with improved range and less weight, he's definitely now looks legit.

Bruiser with a jumpshot and nice lift is a great piece to have

I mean the Lakers are a good team returning all their players who are now used to playing together. I think people are really underestimating the Lakers because (they got killed by injuries and since it wasn't Lebron/AD they don't care) and they have matchup problems against certain teams like Denver. They haven't fixed those problems so they aren't contenders but this is a solid playoff team.

GS was bad last year and I don't see why they won't be bad again. Even Steph who looked unreal for the last 2 games, sucked the rest of the games and these young dudes aren't going to replace what a prime Klay Thompson gave the Warrior

Dude is ripped now and has to still weigh 250-260. 6’8” with 7’2” wingspan and hops. Waive Reddish sign Yabusele …. who says no?

i actually think he'll still suck in the nba, tbh. he's just not quick enough to play on the perimeter and doesn't play big enough in the paint. i also don't trust his nba three point shot to look like the shorter international one. his form is still pretty nasty, imo.

which player on our team's minutes does he take at the 4? i think rui's better. lebron and AD are obviously better by a light years. i'd rather play vando, too.

yeah, and as i mentioned above, maybe cp3's done, but they were a lot better when he was available, and he's gone with no replacement. podziemski can't do what he did for them.

Question is, can he play with the same energy and vigor when he doesn’t have an entire country behind him cheering him on?

can he do it when he's not a primary offensive option? this happens to a lot of guys when they move over. they can't sustain production in a secondary role.

Good cases for No …. thanks. But for Reddish replacement if the “pipe” were possible …. adds a lot of size and muscle end of the bench, like some were considering Isaiah Stewart would be a good pick up to help bang on the bigger guys to help AD out, and a lot cheaper?

i was probably the only person advocating for stewart. i'd argue he "plays bigger" than yabusele and has also demonstrated an ability to play in the paint in the nba.

anyway, sure, for the minimum, he's worth looking at as a reclamation project. i just think he'd be a bad fit/unnecessary here. hell, that brief stint last year when reddish didn't suck was exactly what we needed!

i just think the international game is just really different for several reasons. hell, nando de colo looked passable at times in the that tournament, and he couldn't hack it in the nba.

Steve Kerr is likely to retire as Team USA head coach, which means a new lead voice for 2028 in Los Angeles.

Erik Spoelstra is viewed as the strong internal favorite to become Team USA’s next in line following Gregg Popovich and Kerr.

spoelstra definitely deserves it if he wants it, and kerr seems like the kind of guy who would definitely step down after getting the gold.

i'd like to see taylor jenkins added to the staff. i think he consistently makes his teams more than the sum of their parts.

cp3 was of course INJURED again not a big loss, if you really can defend rob off season so far then guess youre good just status quo then and not taking advantage of this 2 yr window with bron

you're the one who held gs's offseason up as a big success.

i can defend our offseason pretty easily, tbh. there weren't moves to be made, so we didn't do anything dumb and lived to fight another day.

    Nice article on Grant
Good offensive player who takes too much mid range shots if he's your primary

    Bad rebounder

Was a good defender till last year: was this an outlier because of how bad Portland was? Big question here in terms of trading for him or not. Based on current performances no real improvement over Rui. Over his career he's a better player

and he's a few years older than rui. even moving a single first for grant isn't a no-brainer, imo. two is out of the question.

    the author says:
note that he refers to the players moved as salary filler here, too. i don't think rui qualifies as "filler". gabe is filler (probably the only filler we have).

We can't waive and sign someone. It puts us over the 2nd apron. We have to stash someone or do a 1 for 1 trade without taking more salary

I’d still move Rui Gabe and one first for Grant as I’ve mentioned many times. But two firsts is too much. If PDX comes down to reality, or Grant decides he wants out and forces their hand, great. If not, roll with what we have. Barring injuries to Lebron/AD we should be about a 5-6 seed level in the West, IMO. Reevaluate at the deadline.

Looks like we'll be hosting the Timberwolves on opening night. I'm not surprised, but I thought maybe they'd go with the Timberwolves/Nuggets or Timberwolves/Mavs.

Better have great backup plans B, C and D coach Redick for when plan A gets punched in the mouth the first game. Hoping for a fully healthy squad of course.
