We could try to flip something for Kessler, but I'm sure a FRP would be involved. Redick is talking about adding a big bruiser at 5. IDK if Kessler fits that bill or not.

I’d give up one for him but Ainge would want 2 probably.

    Here's cap clarity

Currently we can't do anything. We're only $45k under the second apron. When you exceed that apron, you do not have access the the mid level no matter what. Also the team has let every one who covers the team know that that second apron line is one we're not going to cross for talent acquisition no matter what.

Maybe we'll dump a bum or two at the end of the bench, but that's looking less likely by the day. Also Irwin reported there's no one on the minimum market they like enough to give up assets to acquire and that's what we'd have to do if we're dumping a Wood/Hayes/Reddish mixture

I love Tyus, he's underrated imo and a great starting PG in some teams. His A/T ratio is elite. But he's quite undersized and not a great defender. He's more of a general floor, a CP3 from Temu, which is not the greatest fit to our roster, when we already have Bron and Reaves handling the rock + JJ idea of using AD as a hub.
For PG we need a shooter and/or a defensive specialist, he's none.

Absolutely agree that adding quality is always good and he's by far better to have on the roster than Cam and Wood, but just managing expectations here

We knew going into the offseason, that all we could really do, was to make a trade. Nothing has changed, except that we know for certain, that we aren't hindered by the 2nd apron restrictions beforehand.

It's a good combo actually: two different skillsets and physical profiles.

Yeah except for the part about Tinkerbell crying about Dennis in a news article. I Don't think that is a fit under consideration.

i like him, but not more than dlo, and we're stuck with gabe for better or worse for a few months. getting upset over him signing elsewhere is just wanting to be upset, imo.

I think some of us were hoping Lakers still had some hope for moving Dlo and Rui for someone like Lavine (again I think this is a great trade for LAL as long as you don't give up any draft picks - i.e. salary dump for the Bulls. Doesn't fix the holes but actually gives you someone who can produce like Dlo against tougher competition. Strengthens your regular season strengths at least to be more productive for the playoffs).

Seems like Spence was thinking the same thing he waited to sign, was at JJ press conference and now all hope for a different roster prior to training camp seems lost

oh yeah, i get that. i guess when all the "two picks" stuff leaked i figured we were tapped out on trade targets. spence signing elsewhere tells me that we told him that. which is a bummer, but whatever. portland can't have two firsts for jerami grant.

Yeah, DLO's expiring was our most valuable chip that we are willing to give up and Spencer was the best option as a replacement if you're filling another need (C and/or two-way wing) by moving DLO or even Gabe+.

Him signing with Dallas not only sucks on the front of not retaining him. But likely means we told him we can't move any of our guards... which means we're not doing anything to improve the top 10 on the roster. Maybe we'll still do a fringe move involving one of the PO(S) minimums but I'm doubtful at this point.

We're 9 weeks-ish out from training camp with a less talented roster on paper (in house improvements and injury wish casting is another thing--Vando and JHS are still injured so... yeah) and it appears we're all systems go to run it back. That's just depressing. Bron and AD are playing like the best two players repping the Red White and Blue and their reward is clawing it out for another play in caliber team.

If everything breaks right, maybe we're 5th. But it's just as likely we're 10th.

We're back to holding out hope for another circled date on the calendar. Waiting for the deadline for action. That's a fool's game. You put too many miles on Bron and AD in the process and setup your first time coach for failure when he'll have to pivot systems or adjust to new personnel two months away from the playoffs. That's not what serious basketball teams do. If you aren't a serious basketball team with Bron and AD, get out of the front office Rob. And Jeanie, sell. You're embarrassing your family name. Rambii go f*** yourself.

Rob gets a big F from me for not upgrading this roster AT ALL. He screwed himself last summer by offering those PO’s.
I understand the apron issues, but Every GM has to play by the same rules.

    …loud sigh.

With no moves we really need him and Gabe to be ready to go.
