I'm into it if we go the full MLE route. The decisions on Beasley and Bamba might go down to the wire tomorrow.

If they accept it. Would be nice. Russell definitely hurt his value with his playoff performance.

This would be awesome. BAE might not be enough to keep Dennis, but we could still get a decent player like Jevon Carter to replace him.

Reaves/Brown/LeBron/Rui/AD. Five guys you can trust to play both ends of the court to close games. Love it.

isn't that 171 still over the apron, meaning no dice on the mle/bae? still think i've outlined things that get us to similar salary without hardcapping.

anyway, glad someone else is paid the big bucks to figure that out. lots of moving pieces and possibilities.

like that we're squeezing denver on brown. excellent. i'd almost go this route just to see if malone spontaneously combusts.

Feeling more and more like unlocking the full MLE and BAE is the way to go.

With the talk about “running it back but making moves around the margins”, I’m not sure you even have the tools to make noteworthy “moves around the margins” if you only have the TPMLE. In fact that route may not even be enough to actually run it back if Schröder ends up commanding more than the TPMLE

Yeah, I think "running it back" to them means bringing back Reaves, Rui and DLo. Those are the core guys. Schroder had a good year but I think they see him as expendable, especially if we get another wing-ish sized guy and Reaves can close games at PG if DLo is s***ting the bed.

The fact that it addresses a need is just a plus. Really, I wish someone sent him a link to this and recorded his reaction. I can see the between quarter interview now when we play them and the reporter asks about us taking Brown from them. Brown also fits the kind of FA that Rob said we were targeting this off season.

Stein says Indy is preparing a big offer for Strus. Good for us and Rui

true. though i like our odds of making good enough use of that tpmle plus all the freedom of not being hardcapped. also, i think schroder would take that from us over what he's likely to be offered. maybe i've got the market wrong, though. i just don't see full mle offers for him.

probably, but isn't it just DELICIOUS that brown is using us, in particular, as leverage? shoot this into my veins.

Well if we go that route and retain Dennis with our TPMLE, you essentially have no choice but to FULLY run it back. No other spending power outside of veteran’s minimums, but you don’t have any immediate vacancies in the rotation to attract someone in a Malik Monk type situation.

I personally wouldn’t be mad about that at all, but I could already anticipate the meltdown in the fanbase if we leave free agency with the same exact team aside from our rookies and maybe changing TBJ and Gabriel for different veteran’s minimum players.

I think that route makes more sense though if you have reason to believe that Beasley/Bamba could be used as trade chips to acquire players better than you can realistically get with full MLE (but now as you mentioned, no hard cap complications). Just seems that hasn’t been the case so far.
