Boston still gets Porzingis but it cost them Smart. First deal was much better, Smart is the heart of that team. But hey Memphis can survive Ja’s absence easier now

Time for Smart to dye his hair blue.

I see the C Bags fans whining over trading their heart and soul. Some even said they'd trade Jaylen Brown over Smart!

i wonder what boston plans to do with brogdon now. when guys are included in trades that fall through and have to stay with the team that tried trading them, they usually want out. smart is a good add for memphis with morant suspended, but boston will sure miss his defense

I thought I would hate the Grizzlies just a little less with Brooks gone, but now they had to go get another player I dislike, LOL. Giving up 2 first round picks is a lot but their defense I think got just got better.

Memphis I believe has a plethora of picks next year and went to dump a few

wonder what brogdon's injury is. i mean, he's often injured, so what was it that made the clips balk even knowing that ahead of time?

curious to hear about zinger's extension. on a one-year deal, i like getting him--he'll be on his best behavior. i don't want to be on the hook long term for a guy who plays so little and has been something of a malcontent in more than one stop.

anyway, smart is more valuable than brogdon, imo, so i'm glad the celts did this instead.

wonder if clips will pivot back to trading for paul's contract now. hurts us a bit, imo. though if he were going to just pick them over us in FA, it's infinitely better.

I still don't get why Boston get the best player and the best picks on the same deal

I suspect the Wizards have no leverage here. Porzingis was literally minutes from declining his player option and becoming an unrestricted free agent. Once he did that, wizards have no control over him and he walks for nothing

Following Boston's 103-84 Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat, Brogdon told reporters he has a partial tear of a tendon in his right elbow

jsm's post makes me wonder if it's non-playing related. i knew about the other one, but that's probably not serious enough to back out of a trade in which you give up absolutely nothing for him. if i had to speculate, i'd guess a heart issue had shown up or something more like that.

in any case, what would trouble me is that boston would have known about this as they were trying to trade him, right? how far were they going to let the conversation go before it was disclosed?

yeah, they got jones, who has value greater than a 1st rounder, i'd argue. particularly the #25 pick and or golden state's pick. i'm a little surprised memphis ponied up both for a second instead of a future protected 1st (which is what i'm guessing they asked for).

i feel like memphis got rooked here, but i suppose smart is cost-controlled, which is nice for them. i worry that smart's first lower leg injury will be the end of his career. he really relies on athleticism and has never developed enough skill on offense to counteract age-related decline.

that said, boston took a huge gamble. i'd suggest their fans not look too closely at zinger's injury history. games played since he missed that full year with the acl: 57,43,51,65. i guess they're feeling like they know something given that they squeezed two 60+ game seasons out of horford after he looked dead.

again, the details of the extension are key to me. if it's a one-year rental, i do it. if they have to pay him 30 per for three more after this, i wouldn't have made this move.

I think Portland would trade the #3 for PG. And it would be smart business from the Clippers
