I certainly am not opposed to FVV. I think he is battle tested and can deal with the playoff pressure.

While LeBron will catch heat for our reported interest in Trae Young, I gotta think the coaching staff is driving that one. Ham is close with Quinn and Chris Jent worked with him while he was with the Hawks. (I think Ham was gone by then).

We have some ties with that franchise now so while I don't think anything will materialize with Trae, I do think we will pop up in more rumors with them.

More guard talk..we need another bigman. Van Fleet is small and can't guard anybody. His jumper will promptly disappear in LA, like most of the shooters we've picked up. However we will probably chase him, if D'Angelo wants more money than Fred will accept.

no to FVV, overpaid and offers very little outside of his shooting, and his playoff 3 pt shooting stats are not that great at 37%

I prefer to give Russell another chance if its between him and VanVleet

Also why the idea of him being ok with taking a 10 million dollar paycut, in his prime seems highly unlikely.

Yeah..taking on the hard cap for Fred doesn't make a lot of sense.

I greatly question his definition of "reportedly."

Trae and Kyrie are the only two who have actually been linked to us thus far this off-season. The rest is a Christmas list to Santa

McMenamin mentions three potential replacements if we move on from DLO. You can already guess two of them if you paid attention to any of the rumors from yesterday.

    Kyrie, FVV, and Dejounte Murray

It's absurd it took them this long. It was evident they messed up by not including this by game 2 of the new rules.

I would like to see them include you can challenge anything in the final two minutes. Catching a no call, getting them to review and make the correct call is just as big of an issue. Maybe in two more years they'll figure this one out.

I think the point is that FVV wouldn’t necessarily trigger the hard cap. He could opt in to his player option, and so it wouldn’t be considered a sign and trade in that direction.

But yeah, I’d rather just keep DLo. I don’t think FVV is significantly better, and continuity is important.

    On the season:
    FVV: 29 years old, 6’1”, 19 points, 7 assists, 39% from field, 34% from 3

    DLo: 27 years old, 6’4”, 18 points, 6 assists, 47% from field, 40% from 3

Their last head to head matchup:
    FVV: 8 points, 10 assists, 3/9 from field, 2/6 from 3

    DLo: 28 points, 9 assists, 10/17 from field, 5/8 from 3

Plus one thing I think we’re overlooking in potential trades where we’re outbound sign-and-trading DLo… Would Toronto really want DLo on a longer term deal? Would DLo really want to go to Toronto?

These are dudes that fit into the Beasley or Beasley/Bamba salary slot in trade. Can Trent defend point guards? That would be an interesting back court with Reaves. Love/Drummond unfortunately is probably right, due to the poor free agent selection of centers.

Question is: Do they want to hard cap?
