I hereby declare Prince, Reddish and Hayes untouchable. Let the negotiations begin!

Agree on both but we were able to work with them to get rid of Westbrook in what was a solid deal for everyone. It’s wild but Ainge might be one of the handful of execs we actually have a decent relationship with. Lol

It’s worth the call. I think most teams will want Austin in a deal. Again, I wouldn’t give him up for just anyone but he’s not untradeable by any means.

I am not giving AR for anything that doesn't actually secure us a future post AD (so... 3 years). Markakakakakakannnnennn isn't it. Piss of, AR traders.

if we moved AR for markkanen, have we upgraded in the way we needed to? we lost one pretty good fitting starter/sixth man type and gained a borderline allstar who's also suspect on defense. i will say that markkanen had his best defensive seasons when he played more sf, iirc, so that's interesting. but at pf, he's substantially worse than reaves is at sg, if that makes sense.

if ainge would take rui/reaves and not all of our future 1sts, you'd have to consider it, i think. but i don't think he'd do that.

keep in mind that in such a trade, we also lose our primary non-lebron playmaker, and we wouldn't have a ton left in assets to replace it.

reaves is just such a big bargain at his contract number.

Wow....That kid is 7ft, 26 years old and he avg 23pts, 8 rebs, shoots 40% from 3 with volume, and 90% from the FT. And he's on an expiring 18M contract.

Damn Abeer, you are kind of inflating Austin's value a bit here too..don't you think?

I imagine it depends on whether he wants to stay in Utah or not. LA isn't a bad spot for the young guys.

    i'm saying pursuing ill-fitting parts isn't a great idea.

that 18 will be 35-40 the following year, and we will be left without a perimeter playmaker, a perimeter defender (which we don't currently have anyway), or the means to acquire either.

if i knew moving reaves for markkanen would leave us with the assets to flesh out the pg and sg spots, i'd bite. but it will take reaves AND all our draft assets.

Yeah, I wouldn't use all of our assets for Lauri.

We also need to know what we are doing with DLO.

But its worth seeing what Ainge wants IMO.

Garland sucks, just look how he's playing this postseason. He's good but is likely to have a Beal/Trae type of career, not a winner I think.
Lauri is also good but not worth Reaves. Abeer said it all. Reaves is great for us, we just need to protect him by having a POA defender next to him. He's gold with his current contract. He has one of the best points per play in ISO of the league

    Who else did Vash list?

I think if we can bring in multiple guys then that is the way to go.

I'm confused a bit here, did he sign an extension already? 35-40M? With the Lakers after next season?

Why do we have to trade 30M for 18M in salary this summer?

If you get him is to extend him. And he's getting a 35/40M contract. He will want more than Grant and Tobias for sure (and will get it)

I know that part. I'm asking, why do we need to send out 30M this summer, for an 18M contract. He would be our Bird, we can sign him, to whatever after getting him.

I'm assuming that Rob, would be aware of the roster implications.

Well, I think it'd make our team more consistent. I think coaching will have to be upgraded and figure some things out, but with his size, skill set, Markkanen would provide more consistent offense and reduce those periods where we would look clueless and Denver would go on runs. There's not many guys out there in the NBA that has what Markkanen provides. I think the defensive side, well we got AD, who he's never had. I doubt he'd do worse than Rui or Hayes. Something tells me that a lot of people will finally get to know how good Markkanen is if he joined us.

Yeah, would be painful to lose AR15, but I guess that's where Gabe Vincent or JHS??? shows up.

Everyone's infatuation for the tall stretch big man would be finally realized if we got Lauri. One thing is for sure, it sounds like a better idea than Trae Young.

Nobody said we had to trade $30M for $18M salary. It was simply pointed out that he’ll command a $35-40M extension and that we’d be parting with our best trade chip and all draft capital, leaving us virtually no assets of value to upgrade the backcourt that we would be depleting to get Lauri.

yeah, i'm not entirely sure about that. i'd have to know the cost in trade. my theory is lauri's price is higher than trae's. they're both liabilities on defense and very good producers on offense. only one has proven capable of carrying a playoff team's offense, however. and offensively, young's a better fit with our current players (basically dlo with more gravity and more willingness/ability to finish in the paint).

if you could get trae for say, a protected future first, this year's first, rui, and dlo, but had to pay multiple unprotected 1sts and swaps in addition to reaves (and at least one other piece for salary matching purposes) for lauri, i'm not sure it's an open and shut case.

I won't completely write off trading for Young because there's a scenario where the fit on offense between him, LeBron and AD is special. Like best in the league, carry you through the regular season comfortably special. It just comes down to whether we'd be able to put enough competent, two-way players around them when we're already short on those guys.

You try your damndest to get Bridges: he's the one dude with the frps who basically fixes your defense and 2 way issues. Absolutely terrific number 3 guys and would slot in perfectly around Lebron and AR at the SF. Can basically guard 4 positions and even win you some games on offense with him improved shotmaking
