Have the Grizz already conducted their exit interviews cause this is an insane "injury" report

Either the fans or coaches are lacing up for this one.

    Please let papa Morant play!

You know everyone of those 13 Memphis players would be available to play if it was a Laker game.

there are some inaccuracies in there, and they barely discuss the headline. if lebron and dlo opt out and actually leave, we have 108 million on the books. i think at least two of hayes/wood/reddish will opt out/leave as well, but one of those will be offset by maintaining max's cap hold for RFA purposes, so let's just take 3 million off the 108 to put as at 105. the cap is 141.

i would offer tyus jones 2/24 million with a player option and the starting pg position, and i'd offer tobias harris the rest on the same kind of deal (roughly 2/40). not sure either takes that haircut, but it's possible. could also consider splitting the 33 million on jones and a center (hartenstein and claxton are both UFAs).

    AD/vet backup c (drummond type)
    harris/wood
    rui/vando
    reaves/christie
    jones/jhs or vet

    hartenstein/vet backup c (plumlee type)
    AD/wood
    rui/vando
    reaves/christie
    jones/jhs or vet

both teams have a much lower ceiling than this one's, but a similar floor. iow, we'll win 45 games again, but nobody would be afraid of us in the play-in/playoffs.

    so like now.

edit: could also sub dinwiddie for tyus in either scenario, btw. that's probably better, tbh.

Yeah. I agree. There's a shot at something better next year so they might as well go for it.

Man, i'm luke warm on Jones and Harris. I don't like them from an offensive standpoint, but how is their defense?

That injury report IS for their game against us, a rare occasion where an assortment of injured players DON’T magically get healthy enough just to play us lol

Almost makes me more worried, I’m guessing they’ll just be playing an assortment of G-League call ups who don’t have scouting reports and are going to be gunning to make the most out of their opportunity.

It looks like Jones has upped his three-point shooting volume in the past three seasons though, so that is encouraging. If his defense is an upgrade over Dlo, he could be a good back-court partner with Reaves. I rather keep Dlo though.

i'm operating on the disaster assumption that both of our FAs just walk, which i think is what laker haters are fantasizing about.

that was just one scenario demonstrating that we actually wouldn't be as dead in the water as people think.

we could easily just split the space on dinwiddie and hartenstein and use the room exception (at 8 million, it beats the tpmle by a good bit).

i also forgot we still have gabe (assuming he survives) at pg.

    hartenstein/room mle?
    AD/wood/room mle?
    rui/vando/cam?
    reaves/christie
    dinwiddie/gabe/jhs

not quite as deep, but what good did that do us this year?

again, just pointing out that lebron walking and dlo opting out isn't the end of the world. we'd have options to remain competitive, just not a title threat.

Wouldn’t both of these players be worth more than 4M on the open market if you’re talking even split? Or one of them at least if less than 4M?

I hear you. Does anybody happen to know how Jones is at catching and shooting? In a post-Lebron dystopian world, Reaves would likely thrive as the offensive initiator. He is currently averaging almost 6 assists per game as a shooting guard, and third ball handler. He does need to be on the floor with at least one other ball handler though, and few take care of the ball better than Jones. So, Jones would in theory be a solid acquisition if we unfortunately loose James/Dlo. Dlo might be the best catch and shooter that I ever seen. And Rui would help fill in some of the gaps offensively without Lebron, as he scores somewhat in a similar fashion (light version). Reaves/Rui's scoring could go up to 20-25 ppg each. Reaves could be a 20-10-5 guy. AD/Reaves/Rui trio would be decent.

I think DLo is back, unless our brilliant FO decides to keep Hambone and/or they get that third “star.” Also, we may lose DLo while we are chasing that third “star.”

i was talking if dlo and lebron left, and we had about 36 million in space to work with. 18 each for dinwiddie/hartenstein, then 8 million to cover one or more backup spots.

i think 18 per with some player-friendly options and the promise of a starting job on the league's most visible franchise is probably enough to entice those guys or similar level players.

i'd rather not lose dlo, but we don't know what the conversations are now or what they'll be like in a few weeks. schroder walked for a starting job last summer when i thought we might be able to keep him as a backup. turns out there was stuff we didn't know.

i'd also rather not lose lebron for nothing.

again, just saying that if those things happened, it wouldn't necessarily mean we had to go immediately into tank mode (especially considering we likely don't own next year's pick).

True, we cant really go into tank mode. Probably sign a couple of decent players to use as trade bait later, if that happens.

Lakers could also do a draft day trade, like Vincent and #16 to Toronto for #31. Then, draft Bronny wiith #31. Dump Vincent's salary, and shed some more salary with the lesser pick. Also, guaranteed to keep Lebron, and provide enough room under the apron to sign Russell, and maybe other stuff.

i'm good except for spending 31 on bronny. that's nuts to me. 55 is fine. buying into the 40s just to make papa happy is fine. but with our scouting department, 31 could be a 10-year rotation player, and i don't think bronny is that.

We could have drafted GG Jackson with #40. Averaging 13.6 ppg , 35% from three on high volume in only 25 minutes! Also is only 19!
