Kyrie was at a Golden State/Sacramento game too. Which team was he putting pressure on? The media loves Kyrie stories, if he wore a Yankees cap, does that mean that he has the Knicks on his radar?lol..we aren't chasing Kyrie, that ship sailed at the trade deadline.

didn't realize that, and not going to happen, but that's a massive loophole in the cba if it's real.

yeah...i want nothing to do with this guy. great talent, incredible, really. but i just almost never like to hear what he has to say about almost anything. he delivers it in a way that is clear and sounds intelligent, but he's just full of s***.

Is there an attainable player with DLo’s regular season skillet, who doesn’t turn into a pumpkin in the playoffs?

obviously not the same caliber of player, but I would love to get Seth Curry.

while he is a minus on defense, at the rate he can be had, he has incredible value, especially because he seems to really improve his game in the playoffs.

he's a 47% shooter from 3pts out of a sample of 41 playoff games and averaged 21ppg in the ECS final he played 2 years ago in Philly.

he's not really a great playmaker, but if we can't get Schroder, I would throw him the mini-MLE in a heartbeat.

i showed some stats demonstrating that regular season dlo is regular season jamal murray, so i think that answer is a hard "no".

i mean, yes, kyrie and trae young probably qualify (mostly). but they're not attainable in a way that interests me. i was about to say harden, but one could argue harden drops off as much as russell does in big games.

but russell's combination of size, shooting, and passing aren't common, which is why he's made a bunch of money already.

Totally agree. DLo is a perfect fit, defensive warts and all. All we need is his normal production in the playoffs.

What's your take on his exit interview? Not sure if you've shared it but I'm curious

In theory, cool. Not sure I trust them to decide this in real time.

i just watched it all, and i think some of the comments sound much different in context. the "i'm nice" comment was actually pretty straightforward and part of a larger response about what he's working on. basically, he was saying when you've been in the league 8 years, your game sort of is what it is. you can sharpen stuff (and he talked about things he'd been working on there), but you're not going to transform. i did find it interesting that he's given up on becoming stronger going to his right hand; that was a weird statement. but his admission that he's unlikely to just iso-up on your team's best defender and get buckets was an interesting bit of humility after some of the opening statements about patting himself on the back for this and that.

i also think he's beating the continuity drum, and he's not wrong--denver's a great example of a team that failed multiple times but kept the the core and the coach and philosophy and then things clicked. our team had like 20 games total together. lebron missed most of the time after the trade deadline, and dlo missed some of that, too.

i think mentally, he's accepted that he's a secondary player. the question is how that comes out during contract negotiations. if you look at denver's salary structure, you've got one huge money guy in jokic, then two guys at 33, and gordon at 21. i'd argue that because we have two huge salaries, the next two should be down in the 20s, and those should be reaves and russell. then rui in the teens, and guys like vando/schroder/walker/bamba in the tpmle/mle range.

hopefully, russell can live with that kind of role/billing.

btw, he's never been that far in the playoffs, and i think he could be better prepared mentally the next time around just by having failed so spectacularly this time. i don't think he's a lost case in that regard.

hear me out: fvv has a PO, so we could get him in a non-s&t situation. we could then negotiate an extension pretty soon afterwards, and with the 140% rule going into effect (soon? now?), he wouldn't really be giving up that much cash.

i'm not sure how plausible it is, as the raps would have to want dlo or bamba/beasley, but it would beat losing fvv for nothing, i think. they could have substantial cap space if both trent and fvv walk, but they'd have to use a chunk to retain poeltl, so i'm not sure that operating over the cap wouldn't be best there. and i don't think the hard cap bothers them for next year.

i'd rather just keep russell on a reasonable contract, though. he's younger than fvv and a comparable value right now, imo.

Shams putting the same two names out there

Interesting idea. Depends on how much flex Klutch has. DLO wouldn't be bad there, they have a lot of perimeter length and defense to cover for him. Lights north of the border aren't as bright. I don't see TOR as a cap space team for the reasons above. I think they'd want some type of draft compensation for what they'd angle as helping us out.
