I guess everyone is putting their best poker face on, until around 1pm tomorrow. I expect some folks to start blinking by noon.

    Appreciate it.

Not a fan of how many teams are linked to every name we're shown any interest in. Play-in has really removed at least 5-6 sellers from the table.

This one made me smile. Love seeing the market shift or dry up when these greedy GMs miss out on an offer for their role player and that kind of deal is long gone because...

Yeah I mean, who the hell do people think DFS is??? I wouldn't even trade Rui by himself for him let alone with a frp.

i wonder if silver's re-thinking the play-in a bit, tbh. i always thought there should be a trigger for it (like if you're within 3 games, etc.). having closer to equal numbers of buyers and sellers makes the game better, as teams can have different goals from year to year. ironically, if 26 teams just want to win as much as possible, you may get a product you didn't anticipate.

i have questions as to whether this offer was ever made, and if it were, what were these picks. did a swap count as one of them? several of these teams with a zillion picks have a bunch of likely late picks in the same year of the draft and would probably love to get rid of them, too.

we might be seeing an overdue market correction on the value of protected picks or picks from winning teams. denver's pick is worth d***. nothing. you can buy a pick a few spots lower with almost identical expected value. the only picks worth anything are top-5 picks, imo, and due to the lotto system, those are hard to predict. so they're always a lotto ticket. you're purchasing lotto tickets when you trade a player for picks.

feel like nba gms have put way too much stock in ainge's one-off fleecing of bkn (which required a ton of luck to work, btw, and cost boston pretty heavily in terms of future free agents, imo).

finally, i do think atlanta likely receives lesser offers for murray after this day, just like they did for collins over time. once a guy is so obviously out on the block, you're past the point of no return, imo. i sort of like that we're hemmed in on assets right now, too, as we might have gone higher if we could have, and that might have been a mistake.

Once again I’m fine with a quiet deadline for us. I would like to get a backup PG though if possible. And not at the cost of a FRP or Rui.

If Covington finds himself traded to a bad team and we don't land DFS or similar, I'll take him on a buyout.

How can Pelicans make that salary work while retaining their core 3.

I like that pairing for them. Easy buckets galore.

I believe I was listening to Trevor Lane last night saying the same thing as this. The trade deadline the last few years has kind of been a bust, because all these teams think they can still make the play-in, win a couple games, and then get a series for playoff games revenue. Some of these teams have become delusional because of the play-in, teams that used to be sellers at this point will now just wait for the offseason. You can’t be buyers if you don’t have sellers, so yeah, if we don’t make any meaningful moves, hard to judge that too harshly when you see the asking prices for freaking role players like DFS, or when the Bulls probably want more for Caruso than they do LaVine.

Yeah. If we don't make any moves, its not for a lack of effort from the front office.

I don't think the other teams seem to realize that despite our record, this isn't a Westbrook situation where we just have to make a deal to make a run. the current roster has flaws but has also shown that it can beat good teams.

We could use a move but we don't have to do anything drastic here particularly since its questionable how much closer any of the rumored deals really gets us to a title.

Cost is high + who we're interested in. Olynyk is the only new name

Latest on Murray + the sentiment everyone shares that we'll do something small

Glad the violent POS isn't going to Phoenix for pocket lint

A first for GH? Just stop. If it's already out there that he might get bought out IF he's not moved then you're not getting anything for him. Maybe a swap of expirings just cause. They don't make them like Mitch anymore.

Kuz is also off the table

I'm still curious how this would've even worked. Herb is also due a raise. Pick wise, I assume it would've involved one of ours, in which cause....ouch! Player salary wise...I dunno.
