i think everyone is, but i'm not sure i've seen such a move, tbh. for example, if portland would take rui and prince for brogdon, that helps now, but does it help later? are we going to have to add draft picks to finish 9th or 10th instead of 11th?

if there's another rui type trade, where someone is looking to cut bait on a young player with upside in exchange for 2nd rounders, i'm definitely in. i'm pretty nervous about anything else right now.

I wouldn't add a first to that, but I'll add all the seconds. They mean nothing to me. They can be bought or shifted around the next deadline. Even if it moves us one spot, even if we go nowhere thanks to Ham, I think we owe it to Bron, AD and their availability to do something. Just so they don't feel like it was for nothing.

it's av We tried, but acknowledge there's a ceiling, but thank you for your efforts.

I guess I'm just not as down on this team as others. Their highs are very high - the only team that has frankly looked better than the Clips s/p Harden resurgence, winning the IST, etc.

The lows are very low as they are vulnerable to injury particularly because the injuries keep hitting the 3 guys who are lynchpins of their defense: AD (not so much out but he's been hobbled a few games as well), Cam, and Vando. When they have the defensive complement they are very tough out with a few holes that can be fixed.

The Ham cloud is the question mark but you get a like brogdon and healthy team it's a contender. yes that's a very weird thing to say but the way this team is constructed it what I've seen in terms of performance. Very high highs and very low lows.

THIS, along with the obvious defensive upgrade, is why I wanted the Murray trade to go down. DLO’s gone this summer and we don’t have the cap space to replace him.

From what I'm seeing a move for Murray is still possible even if the chances have gone down. Perimeter defense would definitely help us.

D'Angelo Russell could return to Brooklyn

According to an ESPN insider, Brian D'Angelo Russell is a potential target for the Nets.

“If the Nets and Lakers make a deal, it will most likely be a guard trade. They also discussed former Nets player D'Angelo Russell.

Another scenario to keep an eye on, players that the Lakers do have interest in I’m told, is three guys from the Nets: Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, Royce O’Neale.”
    Is it a new rumour?

Don't see how that benefits the Lakers unless they're getting DFS as well.

that's the kind of lateral move out of desperation that I think we should avoid.

Think it was ESPN that said about a 3 way:

Atlanta gets Dinwiddie, 1st Round from Lakers.

    Lakers get Murray

    Brooklyn gets DLO.

Atlanta would probably need more. May JHS would suffice.

JHS player profile fits much better with ATL - he's a big PG who can't shoot well so matches well with Trae whose small but can shoot

Exactly. Far better to be a team like the Lakers rn, than like the Knicks (pre-trade*), who looked like they had a good top 3 or 4 record in the East and might look like they had a chance to do something in the post-season, but when you drill down deeper you see that they had a really good record against sub-0.500 teams and a really terrible record against teams over 0.500. i.e. They had absolutely no shot in the playoffs against good teams. Whereas the Lakers have a bad overall record, but could beat anybody or lose to anybody, and if motivated and coached well in the playoffs, they would absolutely have a chance at pulling off upsets.

*post-trade I have no opinion so far, they might have a small chance but not sure yet

I heard this as well. Maybe also have Rui going to Brooklyn for DFS? Brooklyn don't really have a true 4, right?

i would hate to give up a 1st round pick just to go from russell to murray. it's an upgrade, but not really by that much. and it's certainly not a move that'll suddenly turn around this team's fortunes

that move won't fix how flawed the roster is or how the head coach is a damn moron

i think it hinges on whether you believe murray can go back to being a top defender. i believe he can. but yeah, he's not as big an upgrade as most would suggest.

He's got an excellent contract as well though - this can't be underestimated with the new CBA. He locked in for 3 more years at an AR like deal. That a significant bonus

We're shopping JHS as if he's a pick and Prince is a rotation player. See if you can dump Hayes in the process, too. Do it Rob!
