Zen has the answer for you ….. punctuated by “always”. Have to agree here. Most likely he didn’t want to be back here playing for “him” again. 2nd reason would be numbnuts didn’t appreciate what he had in Lonnie to lobby to keep him.

Logic my Man …. likely one or the other since he signed for freaking Vet Minimum again. Obviously if Ham has input he did not lobby much to have him back? If he did lobby for Lonnie to be back then it’s entirely possible the feeling wasn’t mutual.

    Interesting,Shaq didn't consider Pimple as a champion .
Shaquille O'Neal: LeBron James and Anthony Davis won't listen to Darwin Ham, who has no championship experience

Shaquille O'Neal believes Lakers leaders don't respect Ham because of his lack of experience.

“I know for sure that in the locker room a resume is important. Are you saying LeBron will listen to Darwin Ham in the thick of things? I know the answer to this question. Figure it out for yourself. Do you think Anthony Davis will listen to Darwin Ham ?

The rest of the guys will probably listen to Darwin. With all due respect to Darwin Ham, he has no championship or playoff experience. If I played in the playoffs and competed for the title many times, why would I listen to a guy who doesn’t have that experience?” - said O'Neill.

Or, maybe Lonnie thought he'd get more minutes on this weird Brooklyn team than he would with us, and that was the best way for him to show out and earn a long-term contract in 2024 so he doesn't have to keep taking minimums. Seems like a fair assessment, given that he's getting some attention in Brooklyn and already had to take another minimum after playing pretty well with us.

I don’t know what they would want for him, but I would love to have Looney on the Lakers. Too bad he doesn’t fit into Ham’s garbage 5-out offense.
I too only have interest in LaVine if we are getting Caruso in the deal.
I like Murray a lot, but not if we are giving up Austin.

You’ve been very consistent.Unlikely scenarios play out all the time in the NBA. I have no idea why Memphis would keep or trade Smart and as far as the Lakers were concerned it didn’t have to be DLO.Since he is injured now it’s moot

Well I mean all coaches that Lebron has played for had no championship experience prior to coaching Lebron.

Kind of makes my point doesn’t it? He didn’t get much in the way of warm fuzzies from Ham …. aside from “Way to stay ready Lonnie and win that game for us when I finally let you play again”.

Honestly feels like a move for the sake of a move to me even though I don’t hate the players we would get back.

Good trade. Lakers get a nice grab bag of role players. An elite defender, an elite shooter, and a very good three and D wing. I still think we are going to make a LaVine trade though. Might also be a multi-team deal. If not a multi-team deal, I still think we could do very well just dealing with Bulls. Proposed trade:

Lakers get: LaVine, Caruso, Drummond, and Phillips

Bulls get: Russell, Hachimura, Vincent, Prince, JHS, Hayes, and 2029 top-5 protected first-round pick

Lakers could then potentially sign CP3 if bought out.

    PG: CP3/Reaves/Mayes
    SG: Caruso/Christie/Phillips
    SF: LaVine/Reddish/Windler/Lewis
    PF: James/Wood/Vanderbilt
    C: Davis/Drummond

Why would Brooklyn sign up for DLO Part Deux? Maybe the other incentives override that, someone thinks? Asking for everyone hell bent on seeing DLO gone. ;)

I’m not sold Smart is an upgrade for our guys and greatly prefer Murray or Lavine.

Lakers could also continue to start Reddish, and have Caruso come off the bench. I like Caruso in the starting unit better though, because he is a significantly better shooter than Reddish.

Saw a trade scenario with ATL, we get Murray and a 1st. They get Austin and Rui.

The we can trade Dlo and the first for another impactful player.

    What you guys think?

Don't like the Smart trade. Everything else is OK.
