Smart is a great defender one of the best but so dumb offensively at the most inopportune time that he lost Boston lots of games IMG_2165.jpeg although Hollinger’s win-loss analysis makes me want to do it because he is always wrong

16-33 in his last 3 games but your point is valid. His defense will make up for his offense

Lavine is going to the Warriors for Wiggins lol.

WTF happened to Wiggins anyway? No one in the press actually mentions why he took off last year and looks like a shell of himself now. He looks even worse than he did in Minny

Is this Darvin? Darvin likes all these defensive specialists that cant shoot. On a serious note, I wouldn't mind Smart at all, but Vanderbilt and/or Reddish got to go. That would be too many one dimensional players. Vanderbilt not trade eligible this season though.

i'm confused: why do people think memphis is moving smart for dlo? dlo is not a memphis guy, and they seem to like smart there. don't see why they do it. the answer can't be "because they lost morant and likely will suck". memphis has to get something? i'm not giving up a valuable pick for that level of upgrade.

i'm also not 100% positive it's a big upgrade. smart has his own problems offensively with focus and iq, so much so that teams really don't tend to play him at pg much (as someone noted above). i'd like him for defensive purposes, but again, the way ham runs the team i'm not sure it matters. smart would further hamper all of ham's favorite offensive schemes.

and now i'm really mad the spurs gave boston white for peanuts.

Yeah, he's on the books until 2026, I don't think they move him. In theory Ja and Adams will be back next season and they will want to be good then.

I think they'll make moves to give them a better pick and with an eye towards next year but it will be guys who are expiring this year -- Kennard, and maybe include Tillman to get a better return. No sense for a small market team to pay Kennard nearly $15m if the season is in the gutter and they can get a couple 2nds for him.

    Perk knows what it is.

Nets have a lot of friendly contracts. They have 7 expirings. 10 players making under $10m (8 of them in the $2-3m range)

You said something similar over the summer when I said the Lakers should be going after Murray. You questioned why would they trade him after giving up so much for him. You’ve been around long enough to know that anything could happen at anytime for any reason in NBA

Does Steph want to stay if everyone but Steph is on the table?
It's not like Duncan situation from them when he had Kawhii and TP/Manu still pretty good

How do we feel about Terry Rozier? Do we feel his shooting would translate over here?

S*** …. I thought he was tough. Kobe would have splinted that sucker with the white tape and kept on playing. Soft.

Offensive juice ? Should have kept Lonnie Walker , not sure why we didn't retain a 3 levels scorer who signed for the minimum for another team

That phrase concerns me and screams "LaVine." He's really the only one on the market who fits that bill.

Like Dennis, expected a bigger role elsewhere.

not sure i'm being inconsistent. i've also questioned whether we had the assets to get him now. i don't recall thinking he was untouchable, just that they invested heavily and got him locked up to (imo) a fairly team-friendly deal.

what's memphis's motivation to deal smart for dlo?

he would of course forget how to shoot. i wanted rozier for russ last year and most were against it, iirc. but i thought we got a better deal and a better player in dlo. i still think dlo is a better player, and is on a much better contract.

    LaVine. Lakers. Murray.
No to Zach. Yes to Murray, as long as they come off their ask for Austin.

Siakam deal is complicated because of the extension. Teams don't want him as a rental.
If I'm Siakam and Dallas is showing interest, I'm telling them let's make a deal. Luka and Kyrie will get him so many easy buckets that inflate his numbers.

More on Dejounte Murray -- included the five interested teams and the Hawks wanting AR

Dlo will probably end up being the best option for us, it seems.

I will re-iterate that I would not necessarily be against LaVine because he's a much more dynamic player who can score consistently. But his contract is horrible and they would have to send us someone else (Read: Caruso) who can contribute. In fact, if we got Caruso, I'd be almost happy to take on LaVine's contract. At least the guy loves the Lakers and would be ecstatic to play here. He just recorded 25 points (8-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block and 3 steals over 41 minutes during Wednesday's 124-119 overtime victory over Houston.

Last 5 games before he got injured he had 20, 36, 13, 13, 34 points per game. He's great at going downhill and is very athletic. Realistically, we need a player like this. His contract aside, the problem is that we don't have a PG. LaVine can give you 5-6 assists per game if you put him in the position to facilitate, but... to quote Dlo: "That's not what I do." :)

I'm good with Murray too, BTW. That's easier to swallow, since he can score & defend. But he's not a PG either. He can pass some, that's all, and I am afraid it's not quite enough.
