I could see something like this happening from now until the trade deadline. This is merely a prediction, not something I’m advocating to happen. It just seems like such a Laker thing to do…

    - Lakers trade DLo, Vincent and a second rounder to Toronto for Gary Trent Jr. (expiring Klutch client) and Schroder.

The thing that annoys me to no end with this front office is how god awful they use the MLE lol. We have basically used the MLE on Kendrick Nunn and Gabe Vincent because the front office wanted to prioritize point of attack defense. This was a self inflicted wound that is 100% on the front office because we let Caruso walk for nothing. We should have kept him because the advanced stats say he is off the charts next to Lebron.

However, I always thought Schroder was a very good role player during his second stint here last season. That was mainly because he was playing for the minimum and that’s excellent value for what you get. Now Schroder is signed to a MLE contract, which is what I think is fair value for him and he replaces alot of what we lose in DLo.

The Lakers basically get a do-over from this trade, get a Klutch client who is a legit 3 point threat. The kind that if a defense is leaving him wide open, he will burn them. He’s on an expiring as well so if he works out we get his bird rights to sign him to a reasonable deal down the road.

My second bold prediction is that…..

The Lakers then follow this up a few days after the trade is completed by signing Chris Paul after he recovers from his broken hand and gets bought out by the Warriors.

I base this on finance on the warriors part. The Warriors luxury tax is brutal, and I am betting they would be more than happy to work out a buyout where even CP3 giving up $1 mil in the buyout = $3 mil to the warriors luxury tax. I believe this is a highly probable scenario this season because it makes too much sense if your the Warriors. They don’t need him.

Once CP3 is bought out, of course the Lakers would be the front runners to get him. I think it ends up happening.

We then roll into the playoffs with a depth chart of:
    CP3/Schroder/JHS
    Reaves/Trent Jr./Christie
    Prince/Vanderbilt
    Lebron/Rui
    AD/Hayes/Wood

I would hope the Lakers find a legit bulky defensive minded big man to match up against Jokic if needed…. But this could work as long as CP3 is healthy. He’s serviceable to do what we need, setup plays, hit open 3s. His basketball IQ would solve a lot of problems.

Didn't watch the game but GS looks like they are done: would be awesome to see Curry with Lebron/AD

GS going through it this year. I don't think retirement is the solution. Maybe take time away (maybe this was enough time?) go find peace, discover meditation, go talk to Phil about some pre-game stuff he could do, go find a monk and learn their peaceful ways.

The Warriors could ship Paul, Kuminga, and Moody out for Zach LaVine too.

reads like bulls posturing on several fronts. having 20 million just sitting on your cap--even if insurance covers it--can't be appetizing to anyone, right?

i don't believe they won't ship vucevic and derozan if someone makes a decent offer. and it's obvious they just need to get off lavine.

I've been talking myself into Lavine lol. His strength and weaknesses mirror DLo in a lot of way (weak defense, poor decision making) but you see how the team just looks different when D.Lo just hits a few shots.

Lavine is a bigger and way more athletic version of D Lo who I think is more likely to be able to provide those defense opening shots more consistently and against tougher defenders.

Still wouldn't do it unless they get Caruso but I think Zach Lowe has been right the Lakers just need some more offensive punch to balance things out
