One huge reason I didn’t want any part of Beal, you can’t gut your team for stars that never play. The Suns are just fortunate that Booker and KD are still that good and that a lot of quality role players joined for the minimum

i mean, nothing structurally wrong is an interesting way to talk about a slipped disc. having had something like this about 18 months ago (and basically still not fully right), i can say that it's not minor. obviously beal is in better condition and has better medical access than i do, but still...

i don't recall beal having back problems before this, though, which is a positive sign for them. could be a one-off.

Yeah, the Suns injuries happened at the starting line and that's even sooner than I expected. KD is playing at an insane level right now, putting up some statistical accomplishments he hasn't done in the past 10 years... he's a beast. But he's logging heavy minutes. he played 46 in a double OT against Utah. Last time he played this many minutes, 37.2 MPG, was 21-22 and he was only available for 55 games that year. Other than that, you have to go back a decade to 13-14 season, he played 38.5 MPG. It's not just the minutes either, it's the work load. He's putting up 20 shots a night. Last two times he did that... you guessed it, the same two seasons listed above.

It is his first run in with back issues. One of the reporters with ESPN/TNT reported on their convo with him about it (maybe Haynes). They said the threshold, setbacks, and limitations were all new to him and it's a frustrating feeling out process for him. I imagine that could lead to them going the conservative route with it, because a foreign pain can be scarier to a player than say an ankle injury that every basketball player has had dozens of.

I don't think it'll just go away without rest though, I expect he'll be dealing with this off and on throughout the season.

yeah, kd and lebron are both making me nervous with their level of play and usage at their ages.

and i can sympathize with beal; back issues are super weird, especially if you're new to them. two thumbs down, do not recommend.

This could age really poorly, but from a roster construction perspective I think Bron will be able to let the foot off the gas a little. I know we're not even close to adhering to the minute guidelines we tried to start the season with, those went out the window.

But he is averaging (slightly) fewer MPG than he has the past two years and more importantly, he's averaging the fewest FGAs of his career. When we get Ariza...I mean Vando back, hoping we can balance some lineups that can buy him a couple additional minutes on the bench. Gabe... I'm not even going to go there.

the old guys aren't ready to hand over the keys...

Lakers show no serious interest in trade involving Zach LaVine (Marc Stein)

Chicago guard Zach LaVine could be sent to another team; the player is rumored to like the Lakers option .

According to insider Mark Stein, the Lakers' own interest in acquiring LaVine is in question.

It is noted that the Lakers expect to make progress through the use of their own resources, including the return to action of Jared Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent .

There is also a large group of Lakers players currently unavailable for trade due to league restrictions. We are talking about basketball players who signed contracts in the 2023 offseason: D'Angelo Russell, Vincent, Thorin Prince, Cam Reddish, Jackson Hayes and Christian Wood cannot be involved in deals until December 15th. Austin Reeves and Rui Hachimura - until January 15.

Gilbert Arenas: I'd trade Austin Reaves for LaVine and keep D'Angelo Russell on the Lakers
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas believes the Lakers should offer Austin Reaves to Chicago if the team wants to trade for Zach LaVine .

“I like Austin Reeves, but when it comes to Zach, I would trade him for LaVine and keep D' Angelo Russell on the Lakers . Then they would have D-Lo, Zack, Bron and A.D.

I'd keep D-Lo because I'm not sure Reeves has the aggression to play number one. Besides, why do they need Russell in Chicago ?” – says Arenas.

Every team that won the tournament games tonight, scored at least 120 pts. A potential 500K payout motivates I see.
