So the 179.5M figure makes sense for us. We are likely not going to receive a player in sign and trade, use the NTMLE, or the BAE. We are better off utilizing the extra 9 million to retain our own free agents, which is part of why the new CBA is going for I think. We get more bang for our buck that way, even if it means bringing back players only to trade later, which has been mentioned. Candidates for such are Dlo, Walker, and Mo.

I think the draft pick thing kicks in if you violate in something like 3 out of 5 years or something like that. I don't think the Lakers want to mess around with that, considering they could be in rebuild mode in that window. It's already been reported that the 179.5M is the limit for them. This is good though, because it shows they are willing to go over the first apron.

he is not. the question is whether he wants to be schrodered. he can bet on himself and take a low dollar one year in a place he thinks he can pump his value, but say we offered him 4/85...you going to turn that down for the level of risk that entails?

nobody's showing up with 4/100 for him (which is the max i would go to, and i'd be squeamish), and certainly nobody's touching his current salary.

I would just go with the 25M figure, just to be safe. I wouldn't want to plan on giving him 20M, only to be disappointed later. I mean, we are upset that he choked in the playoffs, but he is not complete trash, 25M is still a lot of money.

Kind of threading the needle there, but yeah hopefully you are 100% correct on that. 20M would be a great bargain.

if i were them, i'd get off poole and green. i think they can get some value for green somewhere. would have to be creative.

and poole had a bad series against us, but i could see a small market team that needs a scorer rolling the dice and absorbing a good chunk of his money.

but yeah, that 211 million is sort of astounding.

Any shot at pulling off a deft move? Trading D'Angelo and the 17th pick to Orlando, for salary matching and the 6th or 11th pick?

AD/lbj/vando and christie are less than 100mil.AR first year base will be 12mil so unless you believe Rui is getting 18mil or more your numbers a little high. I believe they will be under the cap 8-10 mill after signing those two.The problem is not the talent these guys have but their inability to do what they were hired to do when they needed them to do it.Mo was hurt so I'll defer on him but the other two failed the test.In any event they are getting paid more than their worth. In every facet of life being inconsistent is a detriment to success

if orlando really wants russell, i think they can just sign him outright. but i suppose we could take back gary harris and the 11th pick maybe? not sure i'd do it, as a) 11 and 17 are probably pretty comparable value, and b) i still think russell's a very good fit with lebron and AD.

I wonder if Rui's popularity in Japan and lucrative endorsements would drop off more than the additional salary he might pick up, if he were a Pacer rather than a Laker? AND .... he does SEEM(?) to really love it here.

Only way I could see the Magic wanting to play ball is if they're concerned about not being a destination FA spot and a more attractive destination beating them to him in the open market. Personally I don't think he has enough of a market for that to factor in and most of the destinations with money aren't marquee cities.

For the pick bump, I'd do it if our scouts loved Wallace, Lively, or Coulibaly (still a little concerned with age, sample size and flavor of the month with him). If it's one of the half dozen wings we like, I'd roll the dice that they'll be there at 17.

sure, but it's his first shot at a big contract, and may be his last (never know what can happen). so i'm guessing he'll shop a bit. just bothers me that indy hates us, has money to burn, needs a starting pf, and is coached by carlisle, who likes shooting bigs.

lol, ain't happening. plus, isaac's contract was carefully constructed in case his injury problems persisted (as they have), so they can pretty easily just buy him out.

feel like nba players like orlando? maybe i'm wrong. i know dwight and shaq left, but that was for la. i think it's higher on the list of non-la destinations.

coulibaly worries me a bit, too. he's got that dante exum feel right now.

there's not a whole lot that would convince me to move up in the draft by downgrading our current talent, tbh. i'm much more inclined to do the opposite.

bkn has 21 and 22, for example. is there a deal to be had there where we nab oneale as another wing defender rotation piece?
