ultimate locker room guy. houston actually seems pretty serious about making the playoffs, imo.

if they traded green, i'd be a believer!

Sadly never recovered from that beating John Wick put on him. Would have killed a lesser man.

I mean yeah, they just got FVV and Brooks, they'll definitely push for playoffs. They also got Udoka who looked like a good coach. They'll definitely push but the team's ceiling is when Green leaves, I agree with you, don't think he's the 1A of a competitive team

Stein reports the expectation is for the Heat to sign Oubre if they get Dame. And theorizes that training camp could expedite this process.

Bron and AD on the second night of a back to back.

If Pop wasn't coaching a kindergarten squad, he might retire over this.

How do you handle Kawhi? His body can only hold up for 20 games a year when strategically managed.

Curious to see how they monitor and enforce this. How can you prove a player is not actually hurt or sick?

could they make a DL/IR list like baseball used to have (or maybe still has)? like if you claim a guy is sitting for injury, he has to sit for a minimum of a week or something?

but yeah, i don't know how to legislate such things.

very curious to see if portland just caves after all this. it would actually annoy me if i were their management that miami is just publicly making plans based on me totally folding in negotiations.

20/30 years ago every player was playing 82 games. In worse facilities, no ice chambers, s***ty hotels and traveling commercial.

    Just F play.

OTOH Bird's prime ended at age 31 and Isiah retired by age 32 - that's crazy when you compare it guys like Durant and Lebron even Steph

That's true. But that's due to state-of-the-art treatments to increment recovery, cells regeneration, ice chambers. It's a whole new world, they should be playing for more years.

Before you only got a massage if you were hurt, now these guys have like 2 massages per day

the money has gotten so huge that players feel unable to walk away from it. In the old days, players retired early because they didn't make enough money to pay for their medical bills if they played too long. They did not have all the physical trainers like today's players do. I suspect we are going to see a lot more players, playing into their 40's, but only the real marquee players.

I don't know how we can really tease out how much better treatment helps (certainly coming back from an ACL to near prime physical ability seems real now) vs load management. It also is hard to differentiate what Lebron does (basically economize movement: i.e. slack on D during the regular season) vs dudes who just take time off like Kawhii and Duncan later in his career

the problems with that though... there is a team might have 4 games in week. You have to play 65 games to be eligible for award consideration. And a lot of times a player is 50-50 before going through pre-game warmups.

Ultimately i think players are going to have to give up a couple weeks of their summer to stretch out the season, the league can help by tinkering with the pre-season length and we really cut down the back to backs. Those needs to cut down from 15ish to 5.

    Additionally here's the fine amount

Wonder how that will affect a mom and pop Lakers and them weighing in on Bron or AD sitting.

And it seems the focus is nationally televised games, which makes sense for ad buys and upsetting sponsors
