Backup centers are usually smaller. May make sense to pair them with AD/Bryant and leave the 7 footers to Jones in beginning of games
I have to actually see this offense in action first, but it sounds like a lot of the spacing is already being provided by the players positioning.
I read this as bad defenders bout to be exposed So I guess that is some fair warning for some of the guys on the team. They could be future stars of film sessions.
yeah, i think we have fewer bad individual defenders this year, so we can afford to have less switching. last year, we had so many guys that you could expect would get roasted in isolation that you couldn't count on personal accountability as the first option.
Well it’s great news for us that Nunn is 1. Actually playing 2. Playing well 3. Slotted to play a lot of minutes including potentially starting. I have to say after this past year I have expected none of that right now. I’m more than pleasantly surprised. Shocked is more like it!
Naw, not at all. Just going back to the team that had the best record and beat Clips and Milwaukee (2 other teams with best records) had the same strategy. Thing is and my main concern: is that particular team was had DG at the 2. If we get technical , he struggled defending against particular matchups especially if you attacked his left foot according to LFR, lol. However, he was a great team defender and he had great size and length and could switch I'd need to, right? Theoretically, Nunn is like 6'3 on a good day and Russ is maybe the same height? Offensively, if AD can get back to the D grade that's he been in the last shooting the ball, snd wit Nunn having the highest rated off-ball rating according to Cranjis, it just might work. Great news about Nunn, though.
I’m curious if we see Thomas Bryant get a look in for his shooting. I thought it would be Russ, Nunn, Lebron, AD, Bryant as the starting 5, with Schroeder, Bev, Reaves, JTA, Jones as the backups. If one of the guards gets injured I expected Brown to slow in and everyone from 1-3 to play a position down for the backups.
I think some are sleeping on Reaves’s minutes …. backing up both 3 and the 2. He’s a taller and more complete player than some of the 2 competition.
I imagine we will do something like this: Russ (30) / Schroeder (18) Nunn (30) / Bev (18) Lebron (20) / Reaves (20) / Bev (8) AD (22) / Lebron (10) / JTA (16) Jones (20) / AD (8) / Bryant (20) Lebron, AD, Russ, Nunn: around 30 mins Bev: around 25 mins Reaves, Jones, Bryant, Schroeder, JTA: around 20 mins
Beautiful set. This is one of the reasons I was happy to replace Vogel, we needed a higher quality of offence for this team.
LOL did he finally come off he couldn't find one rotation out of all of the options that didn't suck hugely in some way? Not aimed at you but Cranjis.
Wanted to reply to this, but thought it was appropriate in this thread. I’m not optimistic for this team’s playoff chances as we are now, but it still isn’t going to be as bad as last year. It just can’t be, I have some faith that Ham is at least going to run a system that helps these guys have an easier time than last season. That only works so much with players like LeBron and Russ because they’re used to just being given the ball and doing what they want, and I’m sure we’ll see then revert to that sometimes. That said, again, it has to be better than last session where we had almost no offensive system that I could see and it was ALL just give the ball to LeBron or Russ and let them make something up. Every friggin possession last season was a struggle to score, and then on the other end teams would score like nothing on us. I do not expect that to be the case this season for the majority of the time, it will be a more enjoyable product to watch.
Agreed. I feel like the team is better as we should get more effort and hopefully run an improved offense. I just don’t know how much the improvements will actually translate into wins.
