Schröder still not there? I find it funning that Bev is saying he hasn't lost a game yet while Brick hasn't played with him yet. So Brick must be back in mid season form :Westbrook Come Here2:
AD said they got torched by the other team in one of the scrimmages. It was our big 3 and the other 2 they didn't want to tell. He mentioned Pippen, Pat and JTA playing very well so I assume they were in the other side. I imagine something like this: Russ-Reaves/Lonnie-Lebron-AD-Bryant/Jones Pip/Nunn-Pat-Reaves/Lonnie/Troy-JTA-Bryant/Jones Pip is probably playing Schroder role. It seems the smaller team is giving them the business. JTA will defend a lot AD in scrimmages which is good for him to evolve defending bigger guys. Hope Reaves was in the winning team though it would indicate he was not Ham's first choice to start. Can't wait for the first game and see what type of behaviors are being implemented and some fixed rotations that Ham is sketching. I believe this team will need around 2 months to gel and find its groove but preseason will be good to see what changed from last year in terms of behaviors and the type of approach to both the offense and defense
you sure that was pippen you were seeing? in the clips, it was christie throwing the nice passes, i think. huff made several appearances in the short clip, and i'd like it if we just signed him, tbh. bryant is coming off a big injury, and i think jones has struggled some with this in his career. we all know about AD. one more big couldn't hurt, imo. the athleticism difference from last year is substantial. we'll see if that translates to better outcomes.
I was basing it on AD and Ham's(?) interviews who mentioned him We still have Gabriel. I think if Huff stays, we waive Gabriel
He showed me enough in summer league that's he's certainly deserving of a roster spot. I just don't think we can give him that with our current roster construction. My hope is that Rob has already had a convo with him about giving us right of first refusal if he gets a real offer elsewhere. Another team could offer more money and a bigger role, but if he wants to stay in LA and continue to develop here (and I'm guessing our development staff is partially to thank for his growth) then we can try to figure it out if faced with that. Ham did say that Ryan and Bacon will have the chance to compete for that 15th spot. I found that interesting considering how hell bent we've been about leaving that spot open in recent years. If either shows D and a little shooting or vice versa, I think they get the spot.
i guess that's the one we'd already heard about, but i'm still a bit surprised nunn was the other guard, tbh.
I’m not surprised at all - Nunn is pretty much the fourth best player on this team, a good shooter and he should be a decent defender. Pat Bev isn’t cut out for large minutes, Schroeder is a 1 and Reaves is probably going to be backup 3.
I’m surprised in the sense that he’s ready for it and finally ramped up to playing, but it’s great news, dude had terrible luck last season. If healthy he’s our 4th best player at worst most likely. I am surprised to see Jones there though, I’d assumed it would be Bryant for spacing. But like they said it’s not set yet, Reaves is playing some there as well. I’m more interested to see how he works the bench out. Have Schröder, Beverley, Reaves, Walker, Brown, JTA, and Bryant to work in somehow.
I assume that Schroeder, Beverley and Bryant are all set. Which leaves the two forward spots and I imagine that’s a fight between Reaves vs Walker for the SG/SF and Brown vs JTA for the SF/PF spots?
I'm a little surprised that its Jones starting rather than Bryant, I'd have thought that Ham would want more spacing in a starting lineup with Russ. I'd personally go Nunn/Reaves/LeBron/AD/Bryant but the right groups with this roster are far from clear.
To parrot what others are saying, that's not what I expected. It's early, fluid, and no games have been played; so a lot can change between now and opening night. Personally, I don't see how you can start Russ next to so little spacing and shooting. I also think you want Bev setting the tone defensively. He can't do that as easily as a backup.
Nunn will hit them. I'm just thinking where are they slotting Russ defensively? In the chaser role? Have Nunn POA? Jones is probably you're vertical threat; and are you spotting Russ in the corner to shoot 3's? Can still see teams pack the paint and dare us to shoot. Have to see with scheme to really judge, though.
Right. It’s tough to visualize how this will work. First preseason game will be an interesting watch for sure.
If Nunn starts I think you have to start Jones, he’s the better rim protector than TB. Nows the time to experiment though
