This was why I wanted to do Hield/Turner even for both picks, I thought it would give Ham the opportunity to run his optimal system with Turner filling that Lopez role on both ends of the court. I was very much in support of Gasol as I thought he was a great fit for that role as well.

I have no idea if AD playing the 5 actually has anything to do with him getting hurt more. What I do know is that at the 4 he spends more time switching onto perimeter players and proving weak-side rim protection, as opposed to more drop schemes and primary rim protection when he's the 5. Maybe the latter puts his body in more compromising positions, maybe it doesn't. I have no idea. Regardless, I agree the "AD is best at the 5" thing has definitely gone overboard. The ideal situation is probably him at the 4 with a 5 that can space the floor some and defend in the post/at the rim as well. Problem is those guys are extremely valuable.

They fell apart without Lonzo..imagine that.

I guess their big time acquisition, in Demar..still seemingly pining over not getting traded to the Lakers, isn't exactly great for building team chemistry lol.

I'd try Russ and a first for Jordan, Nunn+Bev and another 1st for Pippen. Maybe they'll go for it.

yeah. his haters like to brush it under the rug, much like pau's haters claimed he was soft. there's a difference between being soft and being 20lbs lighter than your opponent.

i've always thought AD should play the 4 but close halves at the 5, much like td and dirk and kg did their entire careers. you're asking for wear and tear injuries when you trot him out against valanciunas and steven adams and jokic and nurkic night after night after night.

they'll rue that lavine contract. if your guy isn't a superstar, it's better to trade out of that contract situation before it happens, imo.

people are trashing beal, but imo, he proved a lot more than lavine did before signing his obscene deal.

i actually think derozan could thrive here. dude is afraid of nothing, and we could use that. i just don't like that he's not a defender.

if we could get vuc and derozan for russ, we could win a lot of regular season games, imo. and if AD came back next year, we could play that whole group together, too. question of what the bulls want, though. it's a version of the turner/hield deal.

Yeah no thank you to LaVine, not interested in watching both AD and LaVine sit on the bench in street clothes for half the season. He’s Klutch though, so… uh oh

omg that blog is dripping with things i love.

i'm a bit worried we end up with him. bulls would be better off in the short-term just getting out from under that contract.

I don’t think Lavine would be a good fit here. The only need he fills is he’s a good 3 point shooter and can be athletic in transition.

We all would be frustrated with his defense if he was on this team.

Realistically we just need good 3 and D wings with length and are ideally 6’7”+.

We might even be able to get some players like that with our expirings + a heavily protected first and second.

Players who fit that mold off the top of my head are Jalen McDaniels (Charlotte), Jae Crowder, Terence Mann, Taureen Prince, etc.

Players like that who will plug right in beside Lebron/AD and just know their role is to defend and hit open 3s will make a bigger difference than trying to find a way to make Zach Lavine fit.

Some Jake Fischer buzz on Orlando guys
If AD is out for the year, this is my favorite deal: Nunn, Bev, Jones, three second round picks for Ross and Bamba on 1/15

That’s exactly my thought. Demar and Vuc could help us in the regular season then we’d have LeBron and hopefully AD for the playoffs.

On Lavine, I would LOVE to have him. A high flyer who can become a microwave from three AND a local kid? Sign me up… IF he was making ~$20 million.

At $40 million (will be closer to $50M by the end of his contract), I don’t see how you could build a contender with that much money tied to him.

I’m starting to feel the same way about Beal by the way. Trading both picks for either of those guys could be catastrophic. Like we’d be looking back at that in a few years thinking it was even worse than the Westbrook trade.

I’m not opposed to that deal, I like the idea of a cheap wing and big man that we can get without sacrificing either of the first round picks.

But for what it’s worth, recently on Reddit I saw a post along the lines of “Who is someone on your team that other team’s fans don’t realize is actually not that good” and I recall some of the most upvoted responses were Magic fans saying Bamba

Haha, Terrance Ross, every year. Maybe we’ll finally get him when he’s 35. Or maybe if he were 6’4 and not 6’6 Rob would have pulled the trigger already. He’s too tall. Still listed as a guard though
