Can we get Pope back as well? Dude can defend and is shooting 45% for 3.

Well hell, with our fiscal situation, we can just go to the G-league showcase and get a whole new roster there.

The crazy thing is, he's still on the contract we gave him.

That’d be just our luck, we trade a first to get rid of Kuzma, we trade a first to get him back, and he walks for free agency this off-season. No thanks.

I like Kuz but I don’t miss him. I also don’t think he’s our solution. KCP on the other hand I do miss greatly.

He was also a pretty bad three point shooter while he was here. He’d get hot occasionally but mostly not. Versatile scorer but not a catch and shoot guy at all. I don’t see how he gives us what we need.

pretty sure I also remember Kuzma to have been one of our poorest performers in the bubble, being almost unplayable due to poor defense and bad shot selection.

    no from me.

I don't get the aversion to Kuz. He would instantly be our best wing not named LeBron and would replace Pat Bev in the starting lineup. Huge upgrade.

BUT, that said, I would not spend either of our two tradeable FRPs to get him, so it's probably a non-starter. If he could be acquired for Pat Bev and a couple of 2nd round picks I pay that price all day.

Agreed. I wouldn’t use a first for him but Kuz would be great on this team.

Same here. No to using a pick, yes to Kuz. Tall, plays some D, isn't horrible from 3, good scorer, very good rebounder. But the NY deal is still my favorite.

Oh I’d welcome him back, just not for a first round pick. Washington is reportedly high on him according to Haynes, not sure if they even want to trade him, but if they like him then a first will be the ask. Another factor here is would he even want to be here, he seemed pretty happy to be shipped out of here and get to just take shots and not play behind LeBron and AD. He seems like that kind of guy to me, the type that’s happier getting to score 20+ on a mediocre team than scoring 15 on a winner. Maybe part of that is already having won fairly early in his career. He thinks very highly of himself, and while I’m sure that’s true and necessary of most NBA players, he might think he’s a bit better than he is regarding what role he’d have to play on a contender. I just don’t see him being happy standing in the corner with LeBron and AD again, which means he declines that player option and walks. So yeah, I like Kuz the player a lot, just not for our current situation.

We really need to jump on that NY deal ASAP. I don't think we're getting anything better, and those guys would fit our team relatively well. It's a big improvement.

Absolutely not to Kuz. They're going to want an unprotected 1st. Giving up a 1st when moving him and giving up another to the same team to get him back would be awful GM'ing.

If we are going to be that irresponsible with the picks, then do a Knicks deal that gets you a 1st in return and follow that up with shipping Russ and 3 firsts to Indy. That would be better than Kuz for an unprotected first.

Kuzma was very important to the AD-at-the-5 lineups working in 2020. He’s big even for a wing, and while he’s not some lockdown defender he puts in the effort on that end and is at least solid (and sometimes better than that). He’s not a great spot-up shooter but he’s passable.

I can barely express how much more I want Kuzma, even at the cost of a protected FRP, than Fournier/Reddish. Evan Fournier sucks, he’s just a bad basketball player. The last good basketball team that had him (the C Bags) couldn’t wait to drive him to the airport. We don’t need shooting, we need competent basketball players that can shoot at a respectable level. Fournier is not that. Ellington and Melo shot the 3 well last year, how much did they help us?

If we could split the FRPs and do Beverley for Kuzma and Russ for Rozier/Oubre I’d be ecstatic.

Naw, he picked it up on D and has been a decent defender since. He was a contributor in the bubble even if he only made 1/3 of his 3s (which is exactly what he shot). But even 33.33% of 3s is equivalent of 50% from 2 and points are more scarce in the playoffs. Also there is no stat for an extra long wing who is getting his hands into lanes and being a disrupter. A 7' wingspan makes for problems by someone with active hands.
