i get why folks are upset that we don't have hield/turner today. that makes sense, too. what i'm saying is a) we still don't know if it was possible (conflicting reports, imo), b) we still don't know if something better might come up or if we'd end up regretting the move (turner injury or walks in FA, buddy forgets how to shoot here like everyone else does).

finally and most importantly: you make deals with the knowledge you have at the time. there was no reason to expect that turner would suddenly have a breakout year at age 26 in his 8th season or whatever. if someone had predicted that (and that he'd finally be healthy) and said we should give up the picks for that reason, hats off to 'em.

I think I was high in part because of his age: he's right in his prime years. The injury history and the Tim Thomas contract years are legit and real concerns but I guess I've always felt that there was no real reason AD couldn't play like bubble AD as long as he was healthy (and I've been on the AD is great consistently). how do you maximize AD in a Ham based team: Turner always made the most sense. He's a legit C so you protect AD from the wear and tear of the regular season by both not having to vast behemoths like Jokic and reduce his minutes. Turner's injuries were never like meniscus tears. He's got legit 3 range like Lopez to keep the floor spaced for AD. We know AD was a beast with two less talented guys in Dwigth and Javale.

In other words, he's the perfect guy to maximize you're big investment in AD.

If you had to trust a FO to suck so those lottery picks have most value: I'm pretty sure I would trust this FO to suck more than GS's
I haven't seen anything this year that kuminga or moody are going to be anything more than guys who get a fun dunk every now and then.

Yeah, I wanted and still want Turner, but it was not a slam dunk considering the reported price, and still isn't if that price remains two 1sts. Turner right now would be a MASSIVE upgrade to our squad, but it's also likely he doesn't last the full season healthy. And those two 1sts are looking more and more high lottery likely. With our scouts, we might be giving up two future stars.

yeah, i wouldn't love that, but i also doubt that's the only option being considered. i think it's an example of something that they thought was on par with hield/turner, and i'm not sure that's wrong.

    still anti-three star, though.

I agree: I think the Bubble Lakers are clearly the most talented team to win the title post-Durant Warriors. Guys like Caruso, Kuzma, KCP have all proven to be very good on a variety of different teams, and on the Lakers they were just part of a rotating setup of roleplayers. If you have two really really good top 2 players depth is more valuable than having a 3rd star. A bunch of 2 way guys allows you to be flexible with lineups and avoids the situations in the playoffs where teams just pick on the worst defender or intentionally leave the weakest link open

pretty sure Rob wants lotto protection on any picks hes giving up and kuminga/moody are in yr 2, you expect them to be stars barely playing of the bench?

Isn’t CAA the agency we appear to have burned bridges with? Paul George, Julius Randle, DLo, etc?

Hayward is a wonderful player but he is made of tissue paper unfortunately. That’s why I’d never trade for him.

it was clear that turner was trying to get moved a while back. wonder if he felt his agency wasn't doing enough to make it happen.

it's a little weird to me, because i think i he can no longer sign an extension, and he's putting up numbers that will increase his value come FA time. and plenty of teams will have cash in his range, i think. iow, statting it up in indy will probably earn him the same contract as being a complementary piece on a winning team. hell, big numbers in indy is best for his wallet, probably.

unless he just really hates is there and wants someone else to have his bird rights when the time comes.

edit: turner CAN sign an extension still because it's his final year. but it is limited to 120% of his current salary. that would start him at 20 per, which is below market value if he's producing like this. so the point stands--it can't be about the extension?

another team that should have worked harder to deal with us before stuff started happening. we were in our worst position in the summer, and our position only improves, imo. now if charlotte wants to to a russ deal, 1sts would have to come our way, or they don't get to unload hayward.
