Yeah, Pelinka and Kurt are true geniuses. I’m so glad we hired a guy with no qualifications for an NBA GM to run the best franchise in the history of the league, so glad we did no real search and extensive hiring process other than taking Kobe’s endorsement. So glad the other guy has decades of sucking at his jobs that qualify him. You can continue to excuse this FO and put your faith in them, I’ve seen enough.

how do you know Rob couldve done more in FA if Bron took less? There was only so much $ that can used and we know Jeannie n her cronies didnt want to deal with luxury tax. Just like kobe's last extension, Bron ext is/was never bout winning, Jeannie is milking his tenure here for as long as she can.

Been box score watching the Wolves this year and there is a potential small deal to be had there. They need a PG off the bench.

Nunn, DJ, Gabe, and a couple 2nds for Prince and Reid.

(We'd have to wait until DJ can be traded)

Reid has been buried there a bit with their twin towers but he's an actual big who is good enough to see the court for us. Nunn gives them another option to run the second unit. ultimate prize in this one...We get a 3 & D with size in Prince.

It feels like when the D gives up a 3, feels more like a 5 pointer with the Lakers terrible shooting. Irving has issues but his game is what they need.

    It over.

Just audition the young guys, get AD's value up, and send LBJ off next summer.

    We're cooked.

You have to understand that Balmer would fight that scenario viciously. He wants LA and will not have a hand in feeding the serpent whose head he wants to cut off. LA is probably not interested in taking on another giant contract for an injury prone star in a redundant role with one that we already have.

So it’s as most of us thought, they are kicking the can and likely won’t make any moves to improve the team because we are star hunting as usual. I at least thought they were trying to chase someone with cap room this summer but we seem to only want to trade for someone which is unrealistic.

We will end up using our cap space for yet another round of one or two year deals this summer.

Unfortunately i think there’s a real possibility that We’re going to keep losing the next few seasons and end up letting AD and LeBron walk for nothing.

The team rarely seems to use guys to get assets as we’ve let multiple guys walk for nothing. About to see that play out with Russ.

We’re on a projected 4-16 record if we wait 20 games. There was push back when I said we just can’t have 4 point guards in the line up because it causes imbalance in other positions I said it would take 10 games to know that it won’t work. Rob needed to have the spine to trade Westbrick or send him home before the season. he did not and now they have the temerity to convince us that they will trade for a “mystery superstar”

Right. Several of us pegged this team as having 4 to 5 wins at the 20 game mark and got pushback.

I did want to be wrong but just didn’t see where the wins would come from.

did you predict lebron getting hurt/being not lebron? because that's why we're going to be 4-16. the schedule finally eases up, and he's hurt.

can't believe i'm going slick here, but the story hasn't been about the bad support. it's been that lebron has dropped another notch and AD hasn't returned to full form. add in that we're all vet mins after that, and you're dead. add an injury to lebron, and you're in last place.

and no, hield and turner wouldn't have us at .500.

With the injuries, yes to an extent. I think most of us honestly did factor in missing LeBron and AD for stretches. I want to say we were hoping we would get around 65 to 70 games for both.

I think we have to factor in both being out for stretches based on their injury histories and now LeBron's age. LeBron can still put up numbers but we started to see even before AD got here that his ability to just throw a team on its back and carry it to a playoff birth was starting to go. And its not a knock on him at all. It's amazing how well he can still play at this point in his career.

Did not mention Hield and/or Turner. As I've said before, there were other rumored deals that I preferred but I'm honestly feeling more and more that our seemingly limited trade options were based on the team star chasing yet again. It's why I think everyone was ultimately on board with the Russ deal. We just like big names and stars.

kd was my first guess. butler's a great guess because miami is disappointing like we are.

feel like beal fetches more and has less influence on his destination.

butler's contract is insane, though. we shouldn't have to move picks along with russ to make that deal. and i don't even like it. he's 33 with a ton of miles on him.

    i pass.

no, this was about the 4-16--did you predict lebron would miss or be injured for the softest part of our schedule? because i really think that at full strength we could expect to win more than 2 of these games:

    upload_2022-11-10_8-56-47.png

if we're healthy, the only game that's a scheduled loss is at phx (i guess maybe you expect to lose one of the SA games at minimum). contrast that with our first 11 games, where like, all but 2 would be expected losses.

i know we suck right now and all, but so do most of those teams, and several games are at home. just bad luck again on the injury timing.

we definitely do. again, just not necessarily at the worst possible time. i'd rather lebron missed the first 10 games, which we were going to lose most of in any case.

i think it was because teams were asking for more from us than from everyone else. i feel like that's been clearly documented, too.

this star speculation seems at least partly media-generated. also, given how underwhelming our trade options have been, why is holding out for something potentially better that bad? what's the deal we were supposed to do? you said not hield/turner. ok, what was it?

i pushed for conley/bogdanovic, which i think has us at 4-7 instead of 2-9 right now. but utah was trying to bend us over.

the point on which i'll agree is that if it's true we wouldn't take on salary past this year, then yes, that's terrible. i just can't believe that's true. i still think it was that we wouldn't take on salary AND give up picks. and i get that. my conley/bogdanovic suggestion involved no 1sts going out because we're eating conley's money next year. i think that's fair. and if we weren't the lakers, that deal probably gets done. we'll never know, though.
