Sigh. It's like repeating the world is round yet people keep yelling back it's flat.

If it wasn't the issue, we wouldn't be talking about the roles players for three seasons in a row. Now we got folks seriously trying to rationalize, giving up 2 future FRP for some more. SMH

Injuries are a factor in my opinion. But it increases my feeling that we can't have a role player like Russ at his price tag. Better to have multiple guys who can actually contribute. Russ played most of the season but simply didn't help us win.

Unfortunately, i don't think the front office can get us a decent deal and we're not going to be able to successfully use Russ' expiring contract to bring in anyone.

    West is super tough, too.

Right now, let's list the teams better than us: GS, Memphis, Phoenix, Clippers, etc.

I think we're slotted in between 6th-8th. Might even be a play-in team. Roster needs more tweaking, IMO. But if this is the roster going forward, it isn't a championship contending roster, IMO.

    To add to this...

Denver gets Murray back. Dallas still has Luka and picked up Christian Wood. Pelicans are better, especially if Zion comes back. Fortunately Utah gets bounced out of the group.

Russ is on an expiring deal, the role players we traded him for didn't help us win either in the previous season. We don't know who fits best with Lebron and AD if they aren't playing. Aside from the first part of the 21 season, AD and Lebron haven't even played enough, to get any on court chemistry going with each other. It's hard to evaluate what you have and how you stack up, if your main guys aren't playing. Camp hasn't even started yet, unless there is some injury we haven't heard about, we shouldn't be in panic mode in September. We are going to win games, our schedule is always tougher after the All Star break.

Yep this roster lands us 7-8 in the West. I guess if Ainge is demanding both FRPs and won’t budge then we will just have to roll with what we have. We aren’t giving up both for any of these deals with Indy or Utah. I would do either for one pick to help the roster and jettison Russ. But it’s looking less likely as each day passes. Disappointing.

the lakers were 11-11 last season when both lebron and AD played

really makes you question the whole "they only sucked because lebron and AD barely played together" narrative

This is also taking into consideration decent to good health, good scheme from Ham and coaches, etc.

I do like Beverley and Reaves backcourt theoretically; there is some other combinations that we can tinker with that might work.

There just isn't much there, though. It's a better roster, but there's still issues that need to be addressed.

No doubt LVBD. Shooting, shooting, shooting. And size, defense at the wing.

21 games spread out over an 82 games season ,doesn't tell you much of anything. Those guys never played in more than 5 straight games. I think one of them got hurt during one of those games. They at least played together for the first part of 21. Their record is what got us to the play in game, we still had to win 5 straight to get there.

Jake Fischer says Utah is our only 2 team trade option for Russ and will want both picks. So yeah, looks like this is our team to start the season, gross.

Yeah because Lebron and AD played in even less games in a longer season.

Yeah, I think that's accurate. Absent some injury to the top 5 or 6 teams, I see us at 7th or 8th at best the way we are currently constructed.

I think in hindsight, Russ failing to get us more wins isn’t as bad as it was in the moment for me. The majority of our team from last year is out of the league or poor 3rd stringers at best.

It’ll be interesting to see how the team performs with a few more nba players. (Not that our roster is that much better this year).

Definitely hope you are right. I wouldn't say we should be in panic mode but I do think the concerns about the roster right now are fair.
